Monday 9 October 1989: Ocean's Batman: The Movie was the game every shop was shifting, sitting at the top of Gallup's charts as Batmania swept the high street. Lee and Mark dig into Black Box's Ride…
Mark WebbHostUh, first though, uh, what was on the radio? The number one single that week was "Ride on Time" by Black Box.
It's Italian house music with a huge, um, Loleatta Holloway vocal sample, uh, and a model called Catrin Quinell miming it in the video.
It spent six weeks at number one and finished as 1989's top-selling single.
'Cause you're right on time.
Right on time.
'Cause you're right on time.
Oh, and I, I love that one, Lee, because the second that vocal kicks in, you know exactly what year you're in.
Every youth club and every Saturday market stall had it blasting out, and you couldn't walk past a Dixons without, um, hearing it from a demo hi-fi.
I still catch myself humming the Batman theme over the top of it, which is a terrible mashup.
Fair.
