There, there's something, there's a sort of, there, there's a line, there's a lineage there, um, of the sort of great African American dandy.

How did you get into them?

I, I think I must have read a review that sort of quite crudely said it was somewhere between Radiohead and Prince, and I thought, "Listen, if that is even vaguely accurate, I'm gonna be into this." Um, and, and then the only piece of information I knew about them was that their first EP was called OK Calculator, which made me laugh, and I thought, "Right, well, it's gotta be worth an investigate." And so I think this is, this would be 2009, I think that album comes out.

And so it's kind of early YouTube, and I remember going on YouTube to listen to, like, see what music they'd put up there.

And Prince, as well as this next artist, I mean, both had work situations that they weren't happy with, right? Prince famously battled with his recording label, and so did this next artist, because track 11's You're On Your Own Kid by Taylor Swift.

put my expectations a little bit high just because, like, we went on a private jet.

I kind of wrote that bass line that's kind of chugging along the whole song, did the kind of funky Prince guitar thing, which I thought was really cool.

and the lyrics just kind of came out of nowhere where the sit thing was like oh set that's cool it's kind of chanty it's kind of non-traditional having it in the verses be very sparse and just have the the shouting with the with the set thing but part of me thought that that was cool because initially i showed it to some people and they're like oh you don't have a verse there maybe she had some singing but For me, it was like, this is groovy.

I feel like the groove carries it.

Anyway, back to our timeline.

The day after Prince's Golden Globe party, Lindsay will be admitted into rehab for the first time at a place called the Wonderland Center.
