Jill McBride BaxterHostWell, I've been really wanting to talk to you about the big hot topic with the players getting money.
But also, I first want to just talk about the Protect College Sports Act, because that really just got passed in the Senate with a 77 to 22 vote on September 28.
It gives a limited antitrust exemption for rules on NIL, the revenue share cap, transfers, tampering, which was something you're concerned about, eligibility and sanctions.
With transfers and eligibility, it allows one transfer without a penalty and caps the eligibility at five years from the athlete's start.
Agents must register at a national database and their fees are capped at 5%.
For division one, it requires five years of post eligibility medical coverage for sports injuries.
And it allows collective media rights negotiation with safeguards, protects non-revenue sports and limits some conference consolidation.
The House of Representatives wants to include an outright ban on employee status.
And the next scheduled session is gonna begin on November 9th after the midterms, which there's gonna be a very serious debate, more of a debate, I think, in the House than it was in the Senate.
