Stress can quietly drain your health, confidence, and happiness without you even realizing it. In this episode, retired physician Dr. Gary Sprouse, known as The Less Stress Doc, explains the hidden…
Gary SprouseGuestBob and Brad Podcast HostHostSo can you explain that and give us an example?

Well, so here's what's going on, right? So I started, one of the things that came to me that got me started on this whole idea of book and stress and stuff like that is a way to separate our brain from our mind.

So humans have a brain, so do monkeys, so do cats, so do dogs, so do elephants, right? We all have brains.

But there's obviously something seriously different between other animals and us.

And what I found is that It comes to, what's the word that I use? It's an emerging property.

So we have enough brain and it's connected in a certain way so that these properties emerge.

And the properties are things like directed awareness, things like having choice, things like can tell what's right and wrong.

So we have a brain like a dog, but we also have this mind scale that my dog does not
have or not very much of.

So then I'm like, okay, well, these are the mind skills that separates from other animals.

And we hear it, right? So that is an amazing skill that we have that has made humans so successful because we can say, wait, there's going to be a hurricane tomorrow.

There's going to be a flood or there's going to be a war or whatever, right? But and here's the problem.

And you're like, oh, what if that happens? And you start having a fear reaction now.
