I write first-person narrative, so I'm, I'm, I'm, I am that person while I'm writing them.

So even when I'm writing Ruby Cooper, when she makes really bad decisions- I'm the per- I'm, I'm imagining to myself ...

I did some acting training [laughs] in the Gaiety School of Acting a very long time ago, and I think I did learn a lot from that about how to inhabit a character.

So I've, I've made up this character, and I am constantly justifying what Ruby is doing.

And, you know, Ruby has an answer for why, you know, she, she, she does something dreadful-
The, the way that you write psychologically, and the, the way that you write of, of the different humans and the, the, um, the, all of the various characters in your book, you come at it really from, uh, from their inside out.
