Andrew will pick up where he left off in the previous episode.

The angel gave Joseph the exact same name that Gabriel had given Mary.

And so when Joseph came and finally talked to Mary about this, it was a confirmation to Mary.

I'm sure that, man, she was thrilled because she was facing possible being stoned to death or being shamed or being put away privately.

And man, not only was she relieved, but what a confirmation it was that not only did the Lord tell her, but told Joseph.

And, and Joseph was given the exact same name that, uh, Gabriel gave to Mary.

So all of these things fitting together, what a confirmation.

Mary went immediately to Elizabeth and without her telling Elizabeth a single thing, Elizabeth told her what had happened, and it was a great confirmation and prophesied all of these things.

It is made manifest above all at the hour of his passion.

Thus, the Blessed Virgin advanced in her pilgrimage of faith and faithfully persevered in her union with her Son unto the cross.

There she stood, in keeping with the divine plan, enduring with her only begotten Son the intensity of his suffering, joining herself with his sacrifice in her mother's heart.

and lovingly consenting to the immolation of this victim, born of her to be given by the same Christ Jesus dying on the cross as a mother to his disciple with these words, Woman, behold your son.

So dear friends, today is the feast of Our Lady of Sorrows.

And I was talking to someone recently who I think has, well, she said that she has a bit of a difficulty with Our Lady of Sorrows.

We had a picture of Our Lady of Sorrows here in the chapel and said she didn't like it at all.

I think because it is a difficult feast.

image it is a difficult reality to see a mother crying to see our mother crying and also to remember the sorrows of a mother mother sorrows are particularly sad that's why when they're fundraising for charities it's usually a mom with her hungry child that they use because that just that image i think there's nobody who can be indifferent to like the suffering that the tears of a mother because we all have one we all have a mom so we all know Please God, that was or is a healthy relationship.

So conversely, when we see a mother's suffering, it's very saddening.

It's very saddening.

So why does the church have this feast, Our Lady of Sorrows? I know in some places in Italy, it's very much celebrated.

Look to verse 34 and 35.

And Simeon blessed them and said unto Mary his mother, Behold, this child is set for the fall and rising of many in Israel, and for a sign which shall be spoken against.

Yea, a sword shall pierce through thine own soul also, and the thoughts of many shall be revealed.

A sword shall pierce through thine own soul also.

One of the terrible swords that pierced through Mary was the sword of mockery.

She herself was mocked that she had a son outside wedlock.

Remembering that an official in the duke's palace owed him some money, he collected it by sending in a written account to the treasurer, and distributed it among persons to whom he felt indebted.

A portion of the money he devoted to the restoration of a picture of the Blessed Virgin.

Then dismissing his two remaining servants, he rode forth alone from Navarre in the direction of Montserrat, a mountain town of Catalonia in the northern part of Spain.

It will not be amiss to recall an event that occurred during this journey, to show the manner in which God directed him.

In this holy ambition he found his consolation, for he had no interior motive for his penances, knowing as yet very little about humility or charity or patience, for to obtain these many holy men have led austere lives.

In the course of the conversation mention was made of the Blessed Virgin.

The stranger remarked that though he admitted that the Mother of Christ had conceived without detriment to her virginal purity, yet he could not believe that after the conception of her divine Son she was still a virgin.

We have rosary bracelets.

We have chaplets of Our Lady of Sorrows, which is a unique item, and so many other books and wonderful things to take.

So we definitely do have that as well if you're looking for some unique items.

Welcome them into the light of your face.

Have mercy on us all, we pray, that with the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God, with Blessed Joseph, her spouse, with the blessed apostles and all the saints who have pleased you throughout the ages, we may merit to be co-heirs to eternal life and may praise and glorify you through your Son, Jesus Christ.
