Panic! In the GOP

I'm Emma Silverman, and welcome back to Anti-Spiral, your weekly dose of hope, wins, and reality checks all broken down so you don't spiral too hard.

Let's get into it.

And I have one tiny piece of, I guess you could call it housekeeping, but it's just something I wanted to point out really quick to make you feel better.

As you know, and as I remind you of every single episode, midterms are creeping up on us, and as we also know, those who win in midterms are sworn in at the beginning of January.

And that time period between November and January kind of feels like senior year of college.

Nothing's really getting done.

Everyone's looking at the professor like they don't matter anymore, which in this case, our, quote-unquote, "professor" has never mattered.

But that time period also feels very short because you have Thanksgiving, and Christmas, and then New Year's, and then boom, new Congress.

So when you think about it like that, the new Congress being sworn in is also coming up very quickly.

That day is January 3rd, 2027.

I have it on my calendar.

And I just wanted to let you know that on that day, we will be one year away, one year, that's it, from all of the 2028 primary campaigns.

So I know that sometimes it can feel like everything is going slow, but even this year has been so midterms heavy that it feels to me like it's going faster than we think.

It's almost June, by the way.

We are a week away from being halfway through the year.

I'm sure you can remember exactly what you did for New Year's.

That was six months ago.

And it's easy to sit back and think about how much time we have left under Trump, but this is when it starts to speed up.

You have midterms, and then two months later, the winners are sworn in, and then only one year later, primary campaigns begin.

And then after that, we have primaries, then the 2028 election, and then we can say bye to Skid Mark Messiah once and for all.

Hold on, team.

We are almost in the home stretch.
