Now, you might ask yourself, in what universe is that a good look for the party in power? Well, it might be a better look than if voting had gone forward, because yesterday, Republican Thomas Massie introduced articles of impeachment against the guy who has managed this whole debacle of a war, that being Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.

Massie said it was in the works for weeks, but he didn't tell party leaders ahead of time, and he said so.

He didn't, because the last time he introduced a controversial measure, the discharge petition to force to release the Epstein files, Johnson declared an early summer reso- cess and sent everyone home to avoid a vote.

Apparently it's a giant warehouse full of computers using everybody's electricity and water.

Just 'cause you don't win nothing don't mean that you can ruin it for everybody else.

I mean, this was Donald Trump's election to lose, and he's doing everything he can to lose it.

Others have been lower key.

Some, as you know, shied away from last week's Trump-centric midterm convention in Dallas.

It's happened s- a lot under Speaker Johnson because he has such a slim majority.

It, it's because that vote would have passed.

Uh, Tom Massie created these articles of impeachment, I think there were eight of them against, uh, Hegseth, and actually didn't tell leadership.

So there's a privileged resolution, which means any member can bring it.

They must believe they've done enough.

I mean, I think part of it is the leadership is worried about them taking another difficult vote for the frontliners with Thomas Massie's impeachment resolution.

You think that was what this was about? I think it's partially.

I mean, I think they don't need them all fighting with each other probably, right, and teeing up some attack ads on how to get things done.

And on Capitol Hill, people have a lot of questions after Republican Congressman Thomas Massie forced a surprise impeachment vote against Defense Secretary Pete Hexeth.

There's a lot of interest in the impeachment process, and people are asking whether Hexeth could actually be removed or replaced.
