Rudy Giuliani, who we had the privilege of interviewing one-on-one, he talked about how everyday Americans were heroes that day because there was no mass panic.

Nobody was running over each other.

There was not a single person getting out of that area, particularly in New York, where if they were handicapped, if they were pregnant, if they were older, if they had some kind of disability, you saw other American citizens come alongside them and help get them out.

After all, we sensitize to the sacrifice.

Yeah, it is a, it is a beautiful film and, and you, you get the, you know, it's first, it's firsthand players.

You know, you have Rudy Giuliani who was, you know, kind of America's mayor.

And so I moved over to protection and took over the... operation, threat operations and intelligence operations for the elected officials and the mayor, you know, under protective operations.

And from there to the final assignment was the mayor at the time was Giuliani.

He took emergency management away from the police department.

and created his own mayoral agency.

I've never heard that term before.

And on 9/11, of course, they knew not to go in there and use it as an emergency command center.

And so, and Letterman was in New York, obviously, and Letterman was New York, and he spoke for New York, and he made fun of New York, and it was like his, you know, "Yeah, I can make fun of my mom, but you can't make fun of her" type thing.

And so he came back on the air, and he filibustered for about 10 minutes, um, before starting his show, and he talked about the city and, and, you know, Mayor Giuliani and, and the, the strength that that guy had at the time and, and, and...

But then he went on, and I thought this was very powerful for the time 25 years ago.

I j- I just wanna, uh, go through this, and again, uh, forgive me if this is more for me than, than it is for people watching.

Yeah, but sort of, I'm thinking like late 90s Harlem, so Giuliani had started to clean it up, but it still had some creativity and buzz around it.

Now, since then, Rudy Giuliani has been eviscerated as a human being.

He was America's mayor at that point.

Time Magazine literally called him that.
