Jackson JohnsonHostIt's good to come off the heels of Alabama win, where it felt like Bama dominated for the first time this season on a lot of parts of the board.
I had a struggle on this one trying to figure out really what to say about them negatively, and the list is less than, you know, one hand.
Um, there's just, there's not a lot of issues that I can sit here and nitpick for Alabama today, but a part of it is, uh, also Mississippi State, they're banged up, and this team is light years ahead of what State was last year.
Uh, you know, Jeff Lebby, it seems like this is finally his breakthrough, uh, as a head coach, which I was waiting to see if we would actually get that, and Kamario Taylor has changed that completely with them.
Um, uh, you know, they defensively, they lost a guy in the second quarter, leading tackler for Mississippi State.
Um, that was a part that dread the life out of this State team and a lot of that crowd in Starkville.
And without Fluff Bathwell on the other side, you already had some injury concerns within the offensive lineman for Mississippi State.
You know, they had talked about him wearing a boot over the broadcast yesterday when they were trying to get with him, interview, stuff like that.
You know, so for Alabama, Mississippi State in a game where they ultimately beat theirselves in a lot of areas, [laughs] uh, but it, beat theirselves is hard to say because they had one penalty going into the second half.
Um, to Bama's seven, six or seven injuries somewhere in that depart- or, uh, uh, penalties, not injuries, in that department.
Um, so it, it was definitely a weird game to see 'cause you saw a lot of penalties, um, in favor for Mississippi State and a lot of, you know, what I would call nitpicky plays for Alabama is the procedural issues.
Uh, but the defense in large part, my biggest issue going into this game was the, the, the, uh, run defense, the yards per carry, a number that dropped off for Alabama last week against Matt Fuller in South Carolina.
Xavier Griffin, five-star freshman for Alabama, who's probably gonna be one of the best linebackers in the country next year, had a brilliant day.
