Episode 288: David Popp

I was going to tell a story and now I don't think I should because I'll go ahead and tell it.

Oh, I have that.

Uh, David.

Yeah.

Do we have time for, uh, Lund, Mr. Mr. Whiting, Mr. Indiana.

Uh, do we have time for a story?

Go ahead, Mr. Toronto.

Okay.

So Lynn Westcott, when I was 13 years old, I had lunch with Lynn Westcott.

No

way.

Yes.

Oh, awesome.

Now, you got to keep in mind, I'm somewhere between the age of 50 and 100.

Um, um, we were at a regional, we were at a regional convention with my mentor, a fellow named Pat.

My dad worked for IBM and, uh, they had a decent model railroad club.

And when I was like 12 or something, I wanted to go.

And one of the guys there was like all about having me be part of the club.

So my dad and I and Mr. Enright, Pat Enright, we went to a regional convention.

And the main draw was that Lynn Westcott was there.

And one of the deals was there was a draw and a half a dozen people got to have lunch with Lynn Westcott on a rail car somewhere with this convention in Western Ontario.

And so then my dad wanted me to meet Lynn before the lunch.

And then, uh, so I, you know, I'm like 13 at this point.

And, uh, so my dad introduced me and blah, blah, blah.

And I can still remember Lynn saying, well, I'm looking forward to having lunch with you.
