WAYLT Throwback: Pop Culture Candy: The Music of Hulu's "Tell Me Lies"

So tell me what your first song was, who sang it, and kind of where it figures into the show and why you chose this one.

Yes.

Okay.

So the first song I chose was Crazy by Gnarls Barkley.

And this comes in the pilot.

So I really, I love that it came in the pilot and it sets the tone immediately.

Love, it is a little crazy.

Love is a little insane.

But But I also am in the boat that there's like good crazy and then there's bad crazy.

And for this song particularly, it represents good crazy for me because it's like uplifting.

It's exciting.

It makes you feel good about things.

It's not the I'm throwing up over the sky.

I'm psycho.

I can't sleep.

I'm going against my morals and values.

Yeah.

That's why this song really spoke to me.

Totally.

I love that you call this out because I think that this is a great place to start just because when you meet all of these characters, you're not really sure where it's headed.

It took me a minute to kind of figure out, okay, what's happening here? I love that these characters are so complex and they have such a dynamic arc throughout the show.

Most of them.

Yes.

Yeah, it's what you want in life and in your relationships.

But I also love too that you talk about, I know that when we were discussing like song picks or whatever, and you're like, I love this one because we've probably all done something like slightly unhinged in the name of love or intimacy.
