Um, they put on a pretty good show, but they were playing alongside with bands like Interpol and Muse and Franz Ferdinand.

And so, and oh yeah, Modest Mouse.

So it was a good concert.

Did you hear about the collaborations?

Yeah, I saw that Modest Mouse teamed up with Caliphone for one of the tracks.

That's an interesting pairing.

For sure.

If done well, it honors the original while creating something new.

Exactly.

That's why I'm really curious to hear how Modest Mouse and My Morning Jacket approach it.

Okay, I've got to ask you about Modest Mouse because I still love Modest Mouse.

But I mean, I was really into Modest Mouse.

But I got to tell you briefly like a little story about meeting Isaac.

Is Isaac Brock? So I used to be in a band and we were recording an album on Mississippi Avenue, which is in Portland.

No promise.

But I was like, how did that happen? And I literally stopped with my friend and I was like, that guy is either rich or then I was like, wait, hold on a second.

Is that the dude from Modest Mouse? Yeah.

For sure, mine too.

so we've done a couple of Pacific Northwest shows in the past.

We did Unwound, which also came out this year, and Modest Mouse.

So Phil Elverum, the singer-songwriter who... kind of is the primary driver behind the album, was the only consistent member during its existence.

So it's essentially another pseudonym for Alvarim, but also had a rotating cast of several other musicians found on his recordings and tours.

yes so um the next track we're going to do is from fleet foxes did a show on fleet foxes a little earlier in the year uh but robin picknall the lead vocalist often cited phil elverum as a big influence on him and they were also friends kind of same same scene i guess in a way i mean phil elverum's a little bit kind of like

yeah and he's quite a unique character in in this that he didn't have that many uh big collaborations and stuff and like friends i guess in the scene in the way that you know you have like the pacific northwest in the 90s with modest mouse and unwound and things like that but um anyways uh interesting interesting little uh connection there so this is probably their most well-known track this is white winter hymnal
