The Garden State soundtrack Was The Current running soundtrack of Morning Becomes Eclectic when that movie came out.

And the guy who would curate all those songs has now done a lot of music supervision in shows and movies, 'cause he just has impeccable taste, and it was where you would go discover the coolest new bands that would become these huge bands.

So I'm imagining it's the same thing as The Current.

That's, like, the plot of it is, like, oh, yeah, I was depressed, so I started taking antidepressants, and it made me even worse and, like, you know, a numb zombie.

And that is, I mean, that's still kind of the stigma around antidepressants is, like, oh, yeah, oh, I'm going to go from being depressed to being a zombie.

I was starting to sense that Pitchfork had some sort of growing influence.

Plus, a lot of music from these bands ended up in films like Garden State and on TV shows like Gilmore Girls and The O.C., which is actually where I discovered a lot of these bands.

You know, I was just hanging out a lot with the cast and Adam Brody, and they were all just giant Death Cab fans.

And suddenly, there were prime slots at festivals like Coachella and gigs on late night TV.
