Sign up to unlockJody, I'm really enjoying this week in LA with you.
I am enjoying it, uh, but Nora, I'm gonna be honest.
We've tied one on a little.
[laughs]
What does that...
I actually don't know what that means.
Uh, it means that we've had some drinks.
Oh, yeah.
We've been socializing.
We have been socializing.
We have been celebrating.
We've been closing down establishments-
We-
... is ultimately what we've been doing.
We, we really, I mean, I've, I've shut down a lot of restaurants.
You and I are both lovers of long meals.
A long dinner.
We both love a long dinner.
And I learned at your wedding that that is, like, a thing that brought you and your husband together.
You love long meals.
You, you had a very long meal at your wedding.
Yes.
No, we, we had...
We expressly added a pasta course to the dinner so that the dinner would, in fact, be longer.
And to maybe soak up a little bit of that open bar.
I was-
Yep
... carbo-loading, for sure.
Yep.
No, I didn't.
Right after our ceremony, we went upstairs, and my gorgeous, beautiful, wonderful wedding planner, Jove Meyer, had laid out, um, an assortment of passed apps for us.
So we ate a little bit there.
But then at the table, 'cause we were getting up and walking around, and also 'cause I was just so hyped, the only thing I ate was that bowl of pasta.
Y- [laughs] and it, it went down real easy.
Yeah.
But-
Oh, I was shoveling her into my gullet
...
it, it was so good.
S- needless to say, I've shut down a lot of restaurants in my day.
Almost every one, I'm always the last reservation, arriving late, shutting it down.
I've never had the overhead lights turned up three different levels on me-
[laughs]
... which is what we got on Tuesday.
It was also, we had a 7:15 reservation.
And we were there till 11:30.
Uh, 11:30, and they did, um...
We were at a wonderful restaurant called Barre Toile in Los Angeles that I wanted to go to the last time that I was here, and it didn't work out for whatever set of reasons.
Jody and I wanted to celebrate the feed, twice a week, all the stuff that's happening with this pod, which we're so excited about.
And so we went and we had a glorious dinner, and it was great.
Highly recommend.
And we did, um, I don't wanna say we overstayed our welcome, but they signaled to us that it was, in fact, time to go.
I mean, when they're, like, really begging for the plates back 'cause the dishwasher's about to leave-
[laughs]
... it's time to go.
[laughs] It's time to go.
It's time to go.
And I thought that we were done at that point, maybe with, like, our rabble-rousing and our socializing, but no.
Last night we saw separate colleagues and friends, and then we came back together for the Knicks win, which we'll get to.
Two big things happening in culture right now that everyone's been waiting for.
Two big series.
The NBA finals and the three-part Summer House reunion, and that's what we're talking about.
Baby-
Summer House in three, Knicks in five.
[laughs] Uh, Knicks in five.
Nothing's happening in four, turns out.
Um, but of course we should plug.
We are twice a week now.
We're Wednesdays and Fridays.
Subscribe to our new feed.
Like us.
Uh, you know, clap-
Please like us.
Please, please like us.
Please like me.
Please.
How...
I'm, like, I really wanna say Please clap, Jeb Bush, but I'm like, how many white, like, early aughts politicians can I quote on this podcast?
It really is...
It, it's funny because, like, I think of myself as kind of holding a lot of those specific reference points kind of strangely, not dear, but present in my imagination.
And the fact that you do as well.
It's so weird.
I think it's like that thing where the music you're most attached to is, like, what you listened to in high school.
Or there, like, there's some statistic-
Yeah
... it's like that's the music-
Yeah
... th- and I think maybe the politicians that stick with you are the ones in your first election.
I-
[laughs] Right
... like maybe second election.
[laughs]
But please clap, you know? [laughs]
Please clap.
Please clap.
Please clap.
Please like and review and rate and subscribe and whatever.
And Nora, there's a, there's a bullet point in this outline that I really need to get to.
Uh, but before that, a word from our sponsors.

Good job.
Thank you.
I wrote that down.
Great job.
I wrote down those, those, um, notes.
Uh, I did arrive at the end of the game.
[laughs] I don't mean to put you on blast, but I think you arrived after the game.
[laughs]
Yeah, yeah.
The end of, you know, the end of the g- the very end, like, after it had ended.
Yeah.
Like, when they'd turned the lights up three times.
Yeah.
I was seeing another, um, you know, culture colleague, another non-sports colleague.
And I was planning to come and meet you guys, but, uh, in the way that this game went, you texted me and w- I was like, "Where are you?" You texted me, you were like, "I'd ask you if y'all were gonna stay a while."
Well, you were like, "How long are you gonna stay?" And I was like, "Well, it's," you know, "it's, it's the first," or "it's the second quarter," or whatever, "but like, the Knicks are getting absolutely demolished."
Demolished is the word you used.
"So, like, I wonder if maybe we won't stay." Not as...
Like, we were gonna stay till the end, but I was like, if they get absolutely demolished, people might scatter pretty quickly.
Um, and then the Knicks mounted, uh, the most impressive comeback in N- NBA finals history.
An historic comeback.
I, when I arrived at, at the bar at, again, the end of the end of the game, uh, I, I found this-
High Tops and Los Felas.
Great bar.
Great bar.
I found the sweatiest people I've ever seen in my life.
[laughs]
[laughs] What do you mean?
I was like-
That's something that you don't understand [laughs] about-
I didn't, I did not un- I, because I didn't know about the 29-point comeback at that point.
I knew they were being demolished and that something had happened.
And when I arrived, everyone was a, everyone looked like Mariska Hargitay.
Ma- Ma- how do you say her name?
Hargitay.
Hargitay.
Everyone looked like that, how she looked at the end of the Knicks game.
Everybody had been screaming and jumping up and down.
And like, hair was a, I mean everyone looked great, but like, hair akimbo, clothes a s- like, strewn about.
Somebody had a very small dog wearing a Knicks jersey and was lifting it up in the air.
There were Simba lifts happening.
I just, and, and then I-
Our friend Rachel spilled a whole beer everywhere.
Like, it-
Iconic behavior.
Yes.
Um-
It needed to happen
...
I just kinda had to cobble together like, "What has happened here?" And a, and apparently a really huge thing.
It was really exciting.
It was a great game.
Um, I then was able to go home and cobble together all of the things that had happened within the game celebrity-wise.
Any favorites? 'Cause I've got a few.
I mean, first of all, it just like, I was really, I was concerned that when Trump went to game three, that like, there just, a vibe shift had occurred and nothing good was ever gonna happen again.
And whoever went and saged the garden, thank you, because it worked.
Uh, I really enjoyed the presence of Taylor Swift and two out of three Haim sisters-
Mm-hmm
...
in their Knicks pun baby tees.
There's this thing that Taylor Swift does where she makes, like, she manages to bring homecoming spirit week of high school-
Yes, yes
... to, like, every event.
Yeah.
She literally was wearing a fishtail braid.
Yes.
[laughs]
It's coming back.
With a ribbon in her hair.
[laughs] Although, in fairness, Taylor Swift has been intermittently wearing a fishtail braid since the mid-2000s.
The fishtail felt fresh.
One of the things I'm prouder of in my life is that I can do a fishtail braid.
You can do a fishtail braid?
Not on my own hair, it won't work, but on other people's hair.
[laughs]
That's, I'm gonna, I, I, that's noted.
I could do it, [laughs] I could do it to your hair right now.
That's noted.
The Haim sisters and Taylor Swift are, like, wealthy enough to execute very last-minute a professional tee, but it feels like what in high school you would have ironed the letters onto to make your Stevie Nicks or your Nickelback or your, what was the other one?
Nicole Kidman [laughs] pun shirt.
Um, and do you think that the third Haim didn't come just 'cause they were out of puns?
Maybe, but it's also, it's Danielle and she's gotta kinda do all the work.
She does.
She's busy.
She's gotta get in that studio.
She's gotta write some songs.
Busy being a sensitive artist.
I mean, she also might have, there was a little bit of, um, there was a little bit of consternation online about the fact that the, the Haim sisters are, they're a pretty outwardly LA band and LA institution.
Um, I myself was not bothered by, by accusations of stolen valor, but I see where people are coming from with that, and perhaps Danielle felt that it actually wasn't her space.
But in the same way that Ben Stiller burned his clothes that he wore to game three, it's like, well now they have to come.
Yes.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah.
Jordan's gotta wear the, her bag.
Yes.
Um, Taylor Swift is gonna have to be there.
I mean, I think that the vibe shift probably came from the Wu-Tang Clan and not Taylor Swift precisely, and yet it all has to come back together.
[laughs] I think it was that guy with the sage outside.
I think it was that guy at the bar with the dog.
Um, the, the, like, the memes that I am most obsessed with are of Mariska Hargitay.
I'm saying it right now.
Yeah.
Mariska Hargitay.
Um-
I also don't think that's one that people really dock you for kinda muddling through it.
There are surprising K's and G's.
Yeah.
But I'm doing, I mean, I do think of her as Olivia Benson.
Yeah, well, um, namesake of sh- one of Taylor Swift's cats.
And, and Taylor Swift w- sure was shaking her around like she was a cat.
Like, she was lifting her off the ground, kinda playing with her, pawing at her.
Um, but she, she came from doing two shows on Broadway, a, a matinee-
Loves Midtown
... loves Midtown.
Makes it to the game, changes a shirt, changes into a shirt that a Haim sister gave her.
Yes.
Or, I feel like Taylor.
You feel like Taylor?
You know what? I, I-
I just felt like the Haim sisters made them, but maybe I have that wrong.
[laughs] You just imagine them crafting?
Yeah.
[laughs] I imagine Taylor crafting.
They were like, "We'll go if we can do tees."
"We'll j- we'll go if we can do a little-"
She, she changes-
"... shaky paj"
... her shirt and then manages to, uh...
I mean, she just, like, kind of becomes the face of the game.
At the end, like, she was a mess.
She was exhausted.
It was like she'd played-
I mean, she's a real one.
Like, she's real
... she's got, she's got a lot of game.
Best friends with Jalen Brunson.
Yeah.
They're-
Yeah
... best friends.
[laughs]
Yeah.
Um, I just loved it.
And of course, uh, any, any Timmy content post-Knicks game is both welcome and I watch it on mute.
[laughs]
'Cause, like, there are only...
I'm already dealing with Summer House and, like, those bros-
Yeah
... and then having him be like, "Let's fucking go!"
Yeah.
It's-
Wearing head-to-toe chrome hearts.
[laughs] But I do enjoy watching Kylie Jenner just, like, shake her head lovingly.
Did you see that Kylie and Taylor hugged?
No.
Kylie and Taylor hugged.
Hoo.
There's photo evidence of the two of them seeing each other courtside, going in for a hug, sharing a hug, and, like, a, "Hi, how are you? That was crazy."
It just does feel like they don't exist in the same universe.
The Knicks are gonna bring about world peace, I think.
Maybe so.
I'm having a good time.
Probably not.
You're probably not, no. Um, but it was a good time.
It was really fun.
Knicks in five.
Knicks in five.
The way that people just moved on from Knicks in four to Knicks in five-
[laughs]
... feels very relatable to me.
Um, okay.
I do think, though, that if the Knicks, if the Knicks win the finals in five, and the one game they lost was the one that Trump went to, that actually should go down in record books as a sweep.
That's a sweep.
That's a sweep in the NBA finals.
Do it, do it for the people.
Like, what's crazy is that there are people at that game who paid upwards of $100,000 to be there, and they kind of made a good investment.
Yeah.
Like- [laughs]
Yeah
...
they got the game they-
Yeah
...
they got the game they paid for.
Yeah.
That last shot is nuts.
But you know what's crazy? There's also probably at least a couple people who paid that kind of money for tickets and they left before the end of the game.
N- no.
I bet there are.
I bet there are a few.
If I paid $100,000, well, for anything, I, I would live in that stadium now.
I would have brought a sleeping bag.
[laughs]
That's, you know, the next several years' rent.
If you do it, you can't...
Like, that has to be your shame for the rest of your life.
You can't tell people.
You have to carry that as a secret.
I would be like Tom Hanks in that movie where he lives in an airport.
Yeah.
Like, I, I, I would not be leaving.
Yeah, yeah.
You know, you actually have to, like, abdicate your role in society.
[laughs]
I would be making that my whole thing.
I- that actually has really upset me that you said that.
I know.
I can't-
Let me s- I'm gonna, I'm, let me try out another take on you.
This has nothing to do with it.
This is different.
Um-
You're just trying to upset me now? [laughs]
No, no.
I think this one actually is, is positive.
[laughs] Yeah.
No-
Talented, European.
Surprisingly intellectual.
Yeah, a real intellectual.
In the way-
Got that key to Gramercy Park and was just drawing
I know.
In the way that-
Just drawing in Gramercy Park
... every once in a while you're like, "Oh yeah, Dua Lipa has a book club and a podcast that are really good." And then you're like, "Oh, Wemby is painting in Gramercy Park."
Yeah, he's the Dua Lipa of basketball.
The sister.
She's tall.
He's tall.
The notes are all there.
What do you think we do with this information?
I just, I just am gonna say it intermittently-
Okay
... and feel good about it.
Just gonna track it.
He might get, he might get married eventually, and we can just keep our eye on that.
And I bet it would be chic and fun.
I'm sure.
He's, he's very chic.
Um, anything else about that Knicks win?
I had a great time.
[sniffs] I really had a great time.
I had a less good time this morning, I'll be honest.
[laughs]
Yeah.
Yeah.
Two night, two nights of-
Well, and then we've been-
... school night socializing
... hanging out for, like, several hours, I think, after the game.
So we've really brought this on ourselves, but it's fine.
We accomplished a lot.
We talked about, I confessed to my affliction of four blonde men, and then made everyone else-
Oh, yeah
... say their afflictions.
We got a, we, we, um, we got another canon introspective question, which is, what is your dating or romantic affliction?
Mm-hmm.
Uh, and that was, that was a good one.
We'll save that for a future episode-
It's another time
...
but it's really good fodder.
It's another time because we do, we, we gotta get to the big one, which is that I've been waiting to talk about Summer House again until it concluded the three-part reunion, until you came back.
Nora, you bring an interesting perspective, which is that you don't know what the hell is going on.
That I know nothing.
[laughs]
You do not know what is going on, and yet you have a ton of questions.
You've watched all three parts of the reunion-
Yeah
... without any prior watching of Summer House.
Literally, I'd never laid eyes on many of these people.
Any, any thoughts on what they looked like? [laughs]
Wes? Bad.
Worse than I could have imagined.
I sent you a TikTok of an older woman off camera, like the teachers in Peanuts-
[laughs]
... with a heavy-
Somebody's mom
... like, New York accent that sounded to me exactly like you sounded when we were talking about this at dinner.
And she's just like, "Him? This, these beautiful girls?"
girls?"... to our girls.
What are we doing to our girls?
No, it really, it actually made me, it made me angry.
You've been having a pretty tough time with that, and he is an adult male blonde, but it's not for me.
He looks like the Keebler Elf.
Okay.
He looks like the Keebler Elf with his little butt hole lips being like...
Well, we d- the, we gotta talk about the lips.
I'm trying to, I'm trying to think of, like, how to, uh...
This is my impression of West.
[laughs]
But you gotta bite 'em more.
That's actually really good.
That looks deadass like him.
[laughs]
That's offensive.
Sorry.
[laughs] You have practiced a lot.
Even though I'm trying.
You did it for a lot of dinner, that dinner where we stayed way too long-
I can't look
... it's because you were doing that a lot.
[laughs]
Trying to, like, get it just right.
Yes.
Gearing up for the pod.
Um, I want to talk about basically, like, some new sentences that came out of the Summer House reunion that I had never heard before, and then also some that are kinda like tale as old as time in f- terms of West and how he's, uh, treating his relationships.
[laughs]
Can I say one more thing?
No, I w- I, but I want to open the floor to you for any, um, questions you have, what you were surprised by, like, how you've taken in this reunion.
Oh, well, let's, I wanna do your-
And this whole situation
...
I wanna do your, um, your sentences and stuff because I think that's, like, content based, and then if whatever's left, I'll make sure that I ask my questions.
I just wanna say one thing because it's not really, it doesn't, like, feed into the story or the narrative or whatever.
It's just a, it's just something that was part of my experience that I wanna make clear.
Mm-hmm.
Carl is the sweetest boy I've ever laid eyes on.
Carl is adorable.
Carl is a, Carl is a beacon of light in an otherwise pretty hopeless seeming place.
I loved Carl.
Sasha, please roll Nora's prior clips of talking about Carl.
[laughs]
Okay, all I said was, "Who's Carl?" And now I know.
You said-
I said, "What does Carl have to do with this?"
Exactly, and-
That's a compliment
...
I said-
Who wants to be a part of this mess?
I said everything.
Car- Carl was...
We all know that Carl was a mess.
That has been, that has come across loud and clear-
[laughs]
... that Carl was a mess.
Carl more than anyone else, a, Carl and Lindsay, I would say, he pulled himself together for this reunion.
He put on that-
He's a beacon of light
...
he put on that mint green blazer.
His pants are too short.
His...
I told you, he has a real problem with pants.
His, he's got, his pants too short.
I feel like I never get shoes right as a...
I struggle with shoes, uh, despite con- your constant sandal conversation.
Like, I'm just, it's just-
I don't think you struggle with shoes
... it's not my best.
Like, I'm just, I just, I'm never, I'm never quite getting it right.
Carl is never getting pants right.
Yeah.
He used to wear these really tight white pants.
Now they're always-
It's kind of when he was-
... too short.
I love-
But they also seemed tight.
They are tight.
He was sitting, so it wasn't that, but it just, yeah, that was a l-
He's a millennial.
He's-
It was solidly six inches of ankle they ...
That.
Well, and a- as I really loved when Lindsay said to Carl and Jesse, like, "You're both 6'5", why do you look so different right now?" Because Jesse was sitting so much shorter because, as she said-
Carl has a long torso
... long torso.
Just like me.
Long torso representation for you.
Is that why you've come around? You saw how long his torso was?
I felt seen.
Yeah, it, representation really matters.
No, I, I liked his mint green even though I thought his pants were crazy, and he just was such a sweet boy.
Let me tell you this about Carl.
Like, no person in the reality TV universe, and I do not just mean Bravo, like, I really think no person we or I have watched over the course of reality TV [laughs] has grown to the extent that Carl has.
Like-
It seems like it's been really good for him, which is crazy.
It has been good for him.
I really think it's, like, good for people to watch.
I mean, you would've had to make basically a, an eight-year investment in Summer House, which I have made.
But I f- you said beacon of hope.
Like, I feel like Carl, and I, I really feel like I, I so rarely feel this about celebrities or reality celebrities.
I feel like I can say this about him and it will not come back to haunt me at this point, because he has done so much work.
Like, he stands as representation of, like, the way that men, like straight men, could be capable of turning toxic masculinity around-
Yeah
...
if they put in 10 years' worth of work [laughs] doing it.
We might be able to change the world.
I, no, I, I really, watching it, was thinking to myself, Carl, if you're looking for, like, I have some, I got some hot single girlfriends, Ca- uh, Carl.
And, you know, I'm sure that Carl could, like, still really be capable of mistreating a woman.
But in, but, like, but-
But I believe that he wouldn't
... because he's, yes, because he, he-
Under two and a half hours.
[laughs]
Well, you get it.
You get it now.
He has turned his life around, and even, like, watching him at this reunion, which was pretty different than sort of he may have been at the last couple of reunions even though he was sober, doing the work, like, you can really tell about him now that he understands, he's worked so hard to underst- understand himself and overcome his demons.
And when you do that, when you are actually introspective and attempt to understand yourself so that you can treat yourself and other people better, it makes you innately empathetic.
And the way that he is able to, like, see humanity is so different than almost anyone else out there, but definitely in contrast to what Kyle, or sorry, what West...
I'm doing lip stuff.
And, uh, Amanda.
Now I'll do Amanda ... are up to.
The, the absolute thousand-yard stare.
So like, I really appreciated Carl's grounding presence, and then whatever the opposite of grounding is that Lindsay was doing.
Um-
[laughs] She's a real trip, isn't she?
She is a stick of TNT.
[laughs]
She has- she's a real trip.
She [laughs]
When she finally got her ass go- I mean, one of my favorite moments, like, of any reunion or Bravo is that we are in the final part of part three of the reunion.
They are all exhausted.
They're hard getting it.
Like, they're-
[laughs]
... kind of a mess.
They have literally been there for 10 hours under lights.
She goes, sits back down with a wine glass full of something.
[laughs]
I don't know if it was wine or water, and she said, "Andy, I don't feel like we've gotten anything done."
[laughs] She wanted to switch seats with Andy.
And she should have.
I mean, I, I-
This is one of my questions for you, is like, how much do you think that Andy had his hands on the reins?
I think pretty well, actually.
I do think, and especially in comparison to some reunions of other past shows where, like, Andy just hasn't gotten it right.
He hasn't asked the right questions.
He hasn't pushed hard enough.
He pushed pretty hard in this situation to keep things under control and to, like, prevent people who are much better at talking from talking too much so that Amanda and West never had to account for anything, which is exactly what they were trying to do.
Like, they were trying to be so blank and so non-committal that they couldn't have possibly said anything that they could have had to account for later because they were lying about a lot of stuff.
Right.
And it was, like, pretty...
I don't know if I wanna say good obfuscation, 'cause it was so dead-eyed, but I, I mean, my, my favorite-
Well, I mean, like, they bo-
Sorry.
No.
No, no.
We'll, we'll get to this.
Keep going.
No, I was...
My- I mean, it, it brings me to probably my favorite new sentence of-
[laughs]
... of the reunion, in part because I, too, have started saying, "No offense," a lot [laughs]
[laughs]
In both ironic ways and real ways.
It is, like, the funniest way to introduce a sentence sometimes.
And Andy's, like, real exasperation when he said, "Um, no offense.
Are you on, like, a bunch of beta blockers?"
[laughs]
To West, who then blinked a bunch.
[laughs] Who blinked a bunch, as though he were having a slow motion experience of the world in front of him.
I mean, um, no offense, but are you on, like, a b- I...
That's never...
Like, that was a level-
[laughs] It was amazing
...
I really enjoyed Andy's true vulnerability in that, like, he seemed flummoxed by them from beginning to end.
I think I said this when Rachel and I talked about it, but, like, when he...
In all these reunions, I'm sure you saw Andy does these, like, he goes from dressing room-
Yeah
... to dressing room, has a little preliminary chat, and the whole time he was talking to West and Amanda in their joint dressing room, he was doing a lot of big blinks.
He was like...
No, he was freaked out by the vibe.
He kept saying, "Y- y- you guys seem calm.
Like, you shouldn't be calm."
Well-
"You should be upset."
But they, I mean, a- and I've never had an experience...
Like, I, if...
I've watched...
My Bravo reunion special experience is some number of Housewives reunions, and that's basically it.
I've never...
And usually, that's an environment where people are actually, like, pretty...
If they're taking anything, it's usually uppers.
Yeah.
Is at least the vibe.
Yeah.
I've never had an experience of...
Th- it's like if you're taking a cat to the vet.
I mean, during Scandoval for the Scandoval reunions, um, Raquel, Rachel was pretty, she was pretty zoned out, and it was a little hard to tell if it was, like, her disassociating or what, or what was going on.
But within that, I would say she also managed to seem remorseful and defensive at separate times, which are, like, real human emotions that I can relate to and understand the impulse to have.
Y- West more so than Amanda.
Amanda seemed zonked out and disassociated and sh-
Well, Amanda, when...
There was one of the breaks when they went back into the dressing room, and Amanda went to sleep it looked like for a second.
Um, went to the-
She got into the blanket
... she got in the blanket and she...
And you know, it was sort of like a a- everybody's yelling at me, I just wanna close my eyes to the world.
But I was also like, you're, you might, you might be physically falling asleep right now because you're not, you're not with us.
Well, I thought you were gonna say the one I think in part two where she, uh, gets overwhelmed, and she's like, "I've just gotta take a break." I mean, she went backstage and took a bar of Xanax.
Yeah.
Um, she, she came back and I, I guess I should say allegedly.
That's my opinion.
That's my opinion! [laughs]
[laughs]
That's a Bravo quote.
She came back additionally zonked.
Yeah.
And so Andy became additionally confused of like, what am I dealing with here?
What do I do with you?
But West even more so than Amanda.
The way he was, like, agreeing with everyone-
[laughs]
... that he's the worst, and, like, he was like, "I understand," you know?
You're right.
I'm a piece of shit.
"The concern that I'm the worst possible person in the world, that she could take this kind of risk on." And then you're like, you expect him, and they all freak.
You expect him to be like- But I really feel like this time is gonna be different because I'm committed to it, I got Carl's therapist's number, I'm...
I love her
Even I like her.
They almost-
This has been a, like, this is an ordeal and I brought it upon myself, but it's a wake-up call, and like, we're, you know, this obviously isn't good and it's making me rethink my behavior.
Like, never.
I hope it'll be worth it.
Like, they're, they, they don't say anything about their relationship with each other to each other for the entire reunion.
Like-
Well, and West says-
Like, I would love to count how many words and sentences he uttered that whole time, because it was almost nothing.
You're gonna have to watch his mouth again if you're gonna do that.
I know.
I don't wanna do it.
If you're gonna do that kind of work-
I don't wanna do it
... for the people
I don't, I don't like to watch his mouth.
I...
The way...
Okay, well, a lot of the new sentences come from West, actually, which is so interesting because he spoke so little, but he s- he spoke like a, like a person you've never heard before.
Yeah.
And this is going all the way back to part one.
But much like when you were like, "I didn't talk about the horse," when Rachel and I logged off after we chatted about reunion part one, I was like, "I forgot the most important part.
I don't think we talked about it," which is when West says about whether he and Sierra kissed on kind of the final episode.
He said, "It was just, like, ear stuff."
[laughs] I couldn't believe this.
Have you ever heard of ear stuff in your life?
No. [laughs]
I mean, I, I guess I get it.
But-
It's like I, I like a little ear play myself.
No, sure.
A little nibble, I think we've all probably found it pleasant a time or two.
But to suggest that ear stuff could come alone? [laughs]
But, and also, like...
Right, that it would be ex- it would be exclusively ear stuff
Only ear stuff
And it also...
Like, if we're no longer together, I don't wanna hear you talking about nibbling my ear or vice versa.
S-
Especially when you're doing that much mouth stuff.
I...
Now I gotta think about that mouth on my ear.
That mouth on that ear.
No, it's, it's horrible, and it's...
If someone that you have disrespected and hurt, it should be awfu- like, it's just embarrassing.
It's so...
It's, it's...
We were having a conversation last night about how the word goofy is kind of devastating.
It's goofy.
It's goofy.
Ear stuff is goofy.
Our friend Harry told us that there-
To be like, "I was sucking on your earlobe, and now I've hurt you"
It is goofy, and I do think a lot...
I mean, who's goofier than West? I think a lot could've been accomplished by everyone just saying, "You're being goofy.
Stop acting," stop acting-
"You're being a goof"
... goofy.
Cut it out.
Act-
We actually can't be around you anymore because you're too goofy.
It was tough.
The ear stuff, uh, that's not gonna leave my brain.
Now, what has changed my life is queen, icon, and monster Lindsay Hubbard saying, "You're a pathy."
A pathy.
[laughs] I loved pathy.
Have you ever heard that before in your life?
No, never once in my life, and she kept doing it.
And, and she wasn't...
You know, when someone uses a, a, a word they've made up like that that many times, it's a little bit like, "Stop trying to make fetch happen," and yet she was saying it so seriously, like a diagnosis.
Yeah.
I mean, am I right that she means you're a sociopath?
Oh.
Or a psychopath?
I was going pathological liar.
Oh, hmm.
I mean, I guess I...
The, the magic of, of, of pathy-
Paging Mother Hubbard
... is the, I got it.
I got it.
I got the lingo.
You know it.
You're just a classic Summer House fan.
She's been around.
She loves it here.
She said it at various points throughout, I think, all three parts.
Um...
Well, and Lindsay Hubbard strikes me as someone who throws around a diagnosis.
W- [laughs] Yeah, she's not practicing HIPAA.
[laughs] No.
She's not careful about that.
She also, um, was in PR for a very long time, Hub House PR.
Uh, it actually hurt my feelings when she gave it up to become a full-time influencer, 'cause I just, I liked that she was a PR girly.
And I think really what she did was, like, make Summer House PR her full-time job.
You gotta read some of these interviews with Carl going around right now.
[laughs]
Okay, tell me.
Have you read the Vanity Fair interview?
No.
He just, he talks-
Carl in Vanity Fair, my king.
He talks s- uh, but then Kyle's in People wearing way too much bronzer.
I don't know what happened.
Kyle has been doing his makeup perfectly for the past, like, five years.
Everyone's always like, "K- Kyle is ageless." K- and he is.
Like, he's, he looks better now than he did 10 years ago, but it is very good Botox, and it is pretty good makeup.
And the...
I n- he's going through a lot, so I understand, and, like, I'm trying to figure out in studio on-camera makeup.
It's d- it's hard in the reunions.
But in this People spread, it's no Carl in Vanity Fair.
It's no Carl in Vanity Fair.
So Carl in Vanity Fair was like, "I've been..." He's like, "You know, I've, I've known Lindsay for years, and she always ha- she has so many ideas." He's basically like, "You guys know, obviously, that she is, like, a reality star queen on the show, but, like, behind the scenes, this show works because of Lindsay Hubbard.
Like, she is always ideating." [laughs] Like, she's like, "I want her to be our editor." Like, she is, she's just, like, always thinking and coming up with new ideas, and he was like, "And I know that In the City was one of her three big ideas," which means two more to come.
[laughs]
Unless debuting pathy was w- also one of the big three.
Was number two.
[laughs]
He just, like, the way...
I also think...
And also, then Lindsay has had this huge change in the way she's able to relate to Carl because of the, like, the very sincere apology that Carl gave her on this season on camera, which he knows means much more to her than anything else.
Yeah.
Like, um, yeah.
He's really...
I was just, I was just thinking about Lindsay and how much Carl loves her.
They will become best friends again.
That's nice.
I'm really-
That's like a funny, it's a funny combination of, of energies.
I know.
I think, like, my mind was so all over the place in this reunion that I kept kind of, like, shipping people that I shouldn't.
I was kinda like, "What if Kyle dated Mia?" [laughs] I was like, "You gotta settle down." [upbeat music]

Rated PG.
[upbeat music]
Okay.
Here's a question that I have.
Again, I don't have the context here.
Like, I haven't watched...
You know, you see in the reunion, you see the clips of Kyle calling, calling his wife, saying, "Fuck you," and saying, um, "You're a fucking dumbass bitch."
"You're a fucking dumbass bitch," that's correct.
Which is not a great look.
No.
And I know that there is footage and that people who watch the whole show experienced Amanda doing things that, like, really riled him up, which I, I was not as privy to.
Only seeing what I saw, there were some stretches where I was like, "I cannot believe that Kyle is getting away with this.
I cannot believe that this guy is going to skate in the way that it seems like everybody other than Amanda and West on this couch is just, like, accepting and buying into and promoting."
I did appreciate that that was basically addressed at the first part of the reunion where Andy is like, "Kyle, I really thought that it was gonna be you in the hot seat, and, like, that you were gonna have the most to answer for." And Kyle's like, "Yeah, me too." [laughs]
Well, but it was addressed, but it wasn't-
He's like, "This is pretty crazy"
...
it wasn't addressed in a way that was like-
And now-
... and should we think about the implications of that?
And now you could do it.
It was just like, crazy, right?
It's just, I, it is crazy, but it's a little bit like there wasn't any room for it.
'Cause the thing about Kyle is that he's always willing to account for his behavior, and ultimately not change it at all.
[laughs]
And so if we'd done it, if we'd gone into it, he would've accounted for it, he would've said he was sorry, and then we would've moved on.
But instead we were, like, faced with these two people who were accounting for nothing, who were confusing us, who were being so weird that it was kinda like, I think we just have to stick it out here and see what happens.
Yeah.
But no, I mean, you're right.
Like, Kyle shouldn't be getting away with it, and he is not a hero in this dynamic.
I mean, he was...
I think that they're right to point out that the kind of the worst part of this situation for Kyle is the way that West betrayed him as a friend similarly to how Amanda betrayed Sierra.
Yeah.
And not really what Amanda did.
Like, Amanda left him, you know, she...
I mean, what we're seeing on In The City is that she's like, "I think I'm gonna go.
I think I'm gonna, like, uh, I think we should separate our spaces.
I think I should live somewhere by myself for a month," and then she gets a year-long lease.
[laughs] So, like, a little bit of misleading maybe.
But, like, I think no one at all blames her for wanting to get out of that marriage, and it-
Well, and I also thought that-
In any way possible
...
I don't, you know, I certainly don't wanna, uh, not to play devil's advocate here a little bit, and, um, do not wanna be sitting here in defense of Amanda at all.
I did think that it was a little strange how, uh, like, it just seemed like everybody was like, "You're still married.
You're..." Like, like we don't know what a separation is.
Like, we don't...
And then with Kyle it was fine.
And that struck me as like you guys all have an amazing argument to make against these people, and you're choosing this thing that comes across as a little gendered and just not really making sense.
'Cause I think the stronger argument and the difference between, like, what Amanda and Kyle were doing in their separation is like you should totally be making out with a lot of people.
You too should be getting on tippy toes and-
Yeah
... ma- maybe making out with someone else from the Bravo community, preferably not your best friend's [laughs] ex.
Like-
Definitely not [laughs]
... what's I think notable is going from being married directly into another very complicated relationship ... with someone who is historically terrible to women.
Right.
Right.
Like, in that way it's like, you're married.
Give yourself some time.
Heal.
Get Carl's therapist number.
[laughs] If there's one takeaway for everyone.
I would love it myself, get Carl's therapist's number.
Carl, you've gotta get- I'm sure Carl's been trying.
I'm sure he's been texting them, like, "Jennifer's really great." [laughs] "If you just wanna-" "She'd, she'd, she'd love...
She says she'll make time." You know, the Bravo insurance is decent.
Like, just...
Or pay out of pocket, it's worth it.
You're all rich as fuck.
Get this therapist's number.
Le- I'm gonna say for everybody, maybe less psychiatrist- More, yes ... more psychologist.
[laughs] Yes.
Yeah, I think that's, I think that's a good idea.
Yeah, no, I just thought it was strange the number of times that people were like, "And you still haven't signed the papers." It's like- I also wondered if...
'Cause, and we talked about this offline, like, I do get, it's like the part of me that's like, "I think I would've been a good lawyer." [laughs] It's like, I get mad when people don't make their best argument.
Yeah.
It's like you've got it right there- Yes ... and you're muddying the waters- Yes ... with poor arguments 'cause you wanna make every argument.
Yes.
And then it's always the bad argument that sticks with the person.
Like, we see Amanda go backstage and she's like, "It's just making me so mad that they keep being like, 'You're married.'" Right.
"You're married." Right.
She was like- Like, don't give her the opportunity to do that ... and then Wes goes, "Yeah, he hooked up with someone else first," 'cause that's what they're telling.
They're making bad arguments to themselves.
But they don't have a good argument.
Exactly.
Like, they don't have a good argument to make, and then you, like yeah, I- So then, so then they, they feel more vindicated, but I did wonder- And also it's like if this part of the argument is important to you, then you need to turn to Kyle and also be like, "You too are a piece of shit and guilty of this." Now, to be fair to Kyle, which you know I always will be because I'm a broken woman, he wasn't really making that argument.
Like, he wasn't- Yeah ... saying we're still married, you know? But like, people were saying it for him.
Well, that ma- and that, that made it a little bit even- Hit me even worse- Yeah ... because I was like, okay, the two people who were in this marriage and who are dealing with this separation and ultimate- Don't really care ... divorce, like, seem to fe- yeah.
Like- And they're, like, locked into some, a trauma bond that will likely never end.
End.
Um, because then they have that moment where they're taking a break and she kind of runs into hi- he's like talk- Kyle is talking to Wes.
A lot of times they do their best work, like, on commercial breaks.
Yeah.
He's having a real, like, "Man, I cannot figure out what's going on with you" moment with Wes, and then he goes, "Hold on." And like, he senses Amanda coming.
Like, their, and their chests glue themselves together.
They lock together like magnets, and he- And then gentle sobs.
Well, before, before he starts gently sobbing he says, "You look really hot." [laughs] And I mean, she did.
I'll never understand the- It's, uh- ...
the half pony, half bun, but the makeup was...
Let's talk about the hair.
'Cause I, I think I was sort of fine with it on, like, the reunion.
It didn't affect me very much 'cause you're mostly looking at her head-on and so it kinda seems like a slick back bun.
Um, the rest of her glam looked really good, but she is doing this, it's a half bun with a tail.
Yeah.
A bun tail.
Yeah.
[laughs] So it's sort of like a mullet ponytail.
She's still doing it.
It's a signature.
Yeah.
And it's, it's taking work because I was at the beach recently after this reunion had already started airing, and I did accidentally do it.
I don't under- so you texted this to me.
What are the physics of that for you? I mean, I have very long hair.
I guess she does too.
I put my hair...
But I did it with, yeah, no, with all of my hair.
I put it in a, the start of a bun, and then I, like I have like a clip sitting here right now.
So like, I put it in a bun.
I clipped that bun, but my hair is so long that, like, a lot of that hair didn't make it into the, it came out of the bottom.
So it wa- it was a- Kind of a bun with a tail ...
but I don't think that you're gonna, like, even if that is literally true, on your head of hair, because you have so much hair, it's just gonna present as- Well, but hers was presenting as a slick back bun until she goes profile.
Well, right, at, at which point it looked like, you know, she's doing a sort of on-the-head version of I'm a Little Teapot.
Right.
Correct, and that is its name.
[laughs] Anyways, I did it once.
I was like, I kinda see how this happens accidentally.
I find it pretty wild to then commit to it as your signature look during a time of a lot of turmoil, much like I find the footage that Page Six, everybody say no thank you Page Six, obtained of her spitting in his mouth in Italy.
[laughs] And you, I, it is my assumption that she's spitting gum into his mouth.
Yeah, you said, you said this to me as well.
I, I don't- And you think that's worse? I think that's better.
I think they're both really bad.
They're both- I don't, I, I actually struggle to sort of assess in, in degrees.
It...
But gum is also bad.
It's all bad.
I, I take some sort of solace from thinking that it's gum.
He's like, "Can I have some?" And I think you should let me have it.
He, she's like, "Do you want my gum?" Yeah, and then they're like, but they're laugh- they are evidently having a good time, which is so weird.
It is so weird now to see them in Italy seeming to enjoy each other.
Like they said, we're just trying to get back to those- ... romantic days of when we were deceiving all of our loved ones-
We were lying to everyone we know
... kind of sneaking around, turning off our locations, and they have.
They've gotten back to it, um, which is crazy 'cause they almost literally never looked at each other for this entire reunion.
And I think in part that was because Amanda was maybe finding out a good bit of information on stage that she didn't know, which brought another one of my, um...
I bet this has been said before, it's not an entirely new sentence, but it was a real doozy.
They're speaking about Mija, who is a new character, uh, in the Summer House universe.
She's never yet officially been on screen filmed by a proper camera.
We have met her in FaceTime.
Yeah.
She s- when...
Yeah
... because she is the person who West has been dating for the last 15 months, non-exclusively according to him, sort of.
[laughs] That actually, that brings us a lot of our new sentences, but the first one that came out was indignantly talking about that they were dating.
I c- I think it was s- Kyle.
No, it's Lindsay.
She says, "She put together all the furniture in his apartment!"
[laughs]
I understand how all of this happened to her.
She seems like a lovely young woman who makes ties out of hair.
Well, so she's very crafty.
She's very crafty.
She would love to, to, um-
Put together all the furniture
... get in, in the screen printing room with the Hymes.
Oh, yeah.
Oh, she's, she's making all her own jewelry and all her own clothes.
And she's makes these horsehair ties that now everyone's wearing on Watch What Happens Live all the time.
So, like, I feel for her and how this happened, but when I hear she put together all the furniture in his apartment because she was staying there on the weekends when he was going to Summer House and not letting her come, I'm a little bit like, "Mija, stand up."
Yeah.
Past version.
Yeah.
I'm sure she's learned a lot from this.
Um, and now Ciara has yet another friend.
[laughs]
Yeah.
[laughs]
She's a real collector of broken dolls.
[laughs]
Yeah.
Like, a real-
Yeah
... everybody's coming together.
Um, so...
Okay.
West said, I think that for everyone on the stage, this was the most stunning sentence.
Sort of defensively, he says, "I've been not clear with a zillion women that I've dated prior to this." [laughs]
And they're all like, "Ah! What do you think you're..."
That was the moment when I was like, okay, allegedly he's high out of his mind.
I mean-
Like, I [laughs] I've been not clear with-
With a zillion women I've ever dated
... every woman.
I've lied to every woman I've ever interacted with.
He's like, "The only thing that makes this situation special is the cameras have been pointing at me for the last three years.
I have always done this and sort of gotten away with it, and it is unbelievable."
[laughs] I mean, I guess it's true.
It, it...
No, yeah, it's not a lie.
One of the tru- one of the few true things that he said on that stage.
Um, also true is when Ciara said, "It's like all of this to go to West Village bars."
[laughs]
And I thought, "You know what? I could probably think that to myself sometimes."
Yeah.
That, that one has a lot of, um-
I could-
... a lot of use cases
...
I could take that to heart.
Okay, what about the one when Ben is, is going at him and says [laughs]...
Do you have it written down?
But you...
I don't have it written down, but I have it, I have it in here.
You have it, you chucked it in.
You can, you can correct my, um-
Okay.
Yeah, I'll fact check, yeah
... exact syntax if I need it.
But, "You played football.
I thought you understood bro code."
"I truly believed you were one of the boys.
You played football.
You understand the bro code.
That was the thing that was the most disappointing.
I know you know how to roll."
[laughs] I know you know how to roll.
I know with your boys at home, there's no way you'd go near any of their ex-girlfriends or wives, which this other thing happened within the season where Ben got upset with Bailey, um, because she intimated that he wanted to have sex with Amanda, which he did.
And, um, he, he said, "She said I wanted to fuck my mate's missus." [laughs]
[laughs] Stop.
So this is like a, this is a big thing for him.
[laughs] That's really funny.
I love when men take, like, a super hard stance on something, which yes, obviously you should not fuck your friends' wives.
[laughs]
[laughs]
But like, it's always like, "I would do a lot of terrible things."
Right, but not that.
But not this.
And the way that Ben is always coming from this point of view of like, "Sure, you harmed a couple of women, but you know what's so much worse?"
Yeah.
"That you harmed men."
You went against the bro code.
Which is kind of what Bailey was saying, so I'd love to dig a little deeper on that sometime.
Yeah.
Well, and this was another thing where, like, there were moments of...
I had a great time.
I real- I enjoyed myself, um, uh, watching all three parts.
There were times when I felt a little, like I was sort of just trying to calibrate, like, how to feel about things-
[laughs]
... because there was a nastiness between the women.
Like, anything that was centered around women had a really, really venomous tone.
Mm-hmm.
Whereas even to West, the general dynamic between the guys was, "I'm hurt and I'm sad, but we can get, but I think we can get past this.
Like, I, I wanna understand because you're still my brother."
Yeah.
I th-
And so it, it...
Yeah, no, what, tell me what you think.
I think that the social dynamics of Summer House, they've shifted a lot over the years.
It is an interesting show, especially-
especially-In comparison to, like, the Housewives.
A lot of the JV shows are genuinely more about friendship.
Over on Vanderpump Rules, they're all legally insane.
[laughs]
And so, like, they are really-
Allegedly
... allegedly legally insane, a thing you can be.
[laughs]
We're not a doctor.
We're, you know, I'm not-
We're two doctors
...
I'm not prescribing Pathy yet.
[laughs] Pathy.
But like, everyone on Summer House has always been a little more level-headed.
It's also taking place over one season.
It's kind of they're, they're together for part of the week, so they're real friends.
They go back to the city and they're friends, but they also kinda get a break from each other.
What's interesting, like, a- about what happened this season is that the social dynamics shift a lot from Paige leaving.
They also shifted a lot when she came in.
Before Paige came in in, like, season-
BP
... three, um, the show had been very male-centered.
And so it was all about, like, these couplings and uncouplings.
And then when Paige came on and was basically completely disinterested in every man there except that she and Carl made out in a closet-
Cute
... um, it became a lot about female friendship, which was like, always a very winning part of the show, is like, that, that Paige would kind of like take people under her wing.
Now, in the case that she didn't, that could be very, like, rejecting of a new woman.
But like, she took Amanda under her wing.
She and Hannah were best friends.
Then Ciara comes in and they become best friends, and they're all the bed bugs.
And like, the sometimes that wasn't good 'cause it was kind of boring.
But there was this real through line of friendship.
Paige leaves, and who's left are Ciara and Amanda, who are friends, but they're like Paige's friends.
Okay.
And then I think because they're there alone, they become better friends.
Okay.
And like, you see Ciara really investing in Amanda because Paige isn't there.
She's like, "Now it's my job to lift Amanda up," and that brings them closer all while, you know, she's plotting Ciara's, uh, plotting this betrayal.
Yeah.
Lindsay's never been friends with anyone.
Yeah.
Although you see the ways that she shows up for people, but she's kind of like a, she's like a den mother you hired from hell.
Yeah.
Like, you know, like she keeps this shit together-
Yeah
...
but she's not your friend.
Yeah.
And so there aren't a lot of...
So like, those boys really bonded this season.
They played football.
They're fri- you know, they all jumped in the pool together a lot.
Like, they have real friendships that they're scared of losing.
I think all of the women, uh, at this point in the dynamics are like, "Fuck it."
Yeah.
Well, that came, that really-
That comes through loud and clear.
[laughs]
That really came through loud and clear.
Like, I, I in some ways, like, it was part of why I was asking you about Andy, because it seemed like an interesting reunion for him-
[laughs]
... because even the most toxic of Housewives reunions typically, I think, comes with at least a guise of we're here to sort through things, we're here to work-
Yeah
... through things.
And I think a lot of people wanted this reunion to have an element of that, and it was just hard because, um, Wes and Amanda were literally unwilling to participate really.
Yes.
But it also did not, like, uh, Ciara, and I, I think has every right to do this and feel this way, it, it makes a ton of sense to me, was very open about like, "I'm done with these people."
Yes.
"I'm not, like, we're not going to reconcile.
We're not going to work through this and see if there's a path forward.
I wanna put them in the dirt.
I wanna kill them just to watch them die."
Mm.
And like, that's, it's an interesting point of view to come at three hours of conversation between people because you kind of, you already know that it's a dead end, so him figuring out how to like, how to get from there to the end of it while also having these two just stonewalling all the questions about like timeline and when did you make decisions and how long were you gonna lie for and do you think this is all worth it, it was a hard one.
It was a hard one for AC in his pink suit.
Uh, well, and you know, I think he probably coulda just let Lindsay handle it.
[laughs] I think she wanted to.
Although Lindsay also not there for reconciliation.
[laughs]
No, no. Sh- I, I mean, all, uh, that whole ordeal of like timeline and trying to get them to talk about anything also brought just really more of a curse sentence than anything else, which is in, when Bailey whispers, "I feel like the Super Bowl thing is really incriminating because Dave Portnoy has no reason to get involved."
[laughs]
And you're like, "Oh, what are these words?"
[laughs] What are these words? What did you...
Can, uh, 'cause this is where I don't have all of the, the intel.
How much do you feel like you still don't understand about the timeline?
I don't understand anything about the timeline because it is very clear that they are lying about certain aspects of it and are, they are trying to suss out what they can keep hidden or looking its best that's not going to somehow be exposed by fans.
And so, like, Kyle even says at one point, uh, Lindsay's like, "But an emotional affair is like, is worse than, than like when they started having sex." And he's like, "I know, but we can't prove when they started having an emotional affair."
Yeah, yeah.
Which is true.
I wanna know.
And that's why, that's why everyone has their claws into Mia, 'cause she has all these receipts.
And like, they go off on break- Sierra FaceTimes Mia.
She's telling her what's going on on stage, and then, and, and Kyle comes in.
He's like, "Is there any way we can FaceTime her in?"
[laughs]
Like, a- out to the thing.
And then when Sierra gets off she's like, "Stay by your phone, like if I need you, I'll call you."
Yeah.
Like, that they really are thinking they might just-
Yeah
... put her, put her face up to the [laughs]
Yeah
... to the lens.
I wonder if they asked, and the producers and Andy said no.
I think so.
I think they must have.
Kyle was really intent on getting that stuff across that like... 'Cause, and I think it's both that he has, he's, has this remaining love and affection and concern for Amanda, who he was with for 10 years, and he also seems like truly floored by what he thought-
How much of a sh-
... about West-
Yeah
... versus what he knows now.
Yeah.
That's something that I don't feel like I understand, is that everyone is saying that like West is the biggest fraud.
He's so different off-screen than on-screen.
And because I was then presented with a dead fish-
[laughs]
...
I was like, "Well, what is he off-screen?"
What is he? Yeah.
Like, what is this sort of monster that we don't know about except that he, um, lies to women, which I do think I could have guessed.
[laughs]
Yeah.
No, yeah.
But I, I mean, you know, any Morally Corrupt listeners will know, like I liked, I liked West when he originally came on.
I was charmed by him.
I thought he was funny.
Um-
Has he always done the stuff with the mouth?
I do not rec- He's always been really squirrely when presented with conflict, and I feel like a lot of that comes with like a little bit of the like, "And when I talk like this," and like, "I'm a little, I'm so quiet," and I can't...
But you know what's so fucked up? [laughs] You know what's so fucked up?
Tell me.
Is that he's doing all his-
[laughs]
... his lip biting and his like, "I can barely string together a sentence.
This is all so hard," and then they go backstage kind of the first time.
It's when she's under the blanket, and she's having a hard time.
And he, all of the sudden he is, uh, dominant, he is confident, he is like-
Yeah
... coaching her through-
And he's telling her what to do
... how to go back on.
I feel like that was kind of the m- most exposing of like what this difference is.
I w- So I don't wanna...
I think she really came out there to play the victim, and, uh, it's completely ridiculous, and I don't wanna play into it at all.
I will say that like m- I had a little bit of a spidey thing go off of this is a man who has identified that there is a greater societal desire to watch a woman be taken down than a man, and he understands that the easiest way for him to get through this is to serve her up on a platter.
Oh, yeah.
To not go after her when she runs off stage, to, you know, just...
She's gonna participate a little bit more, which is gonna lead to more opportunities for whack, whack, whack, whack, whack.
Whenever he's called upon, he's just gonna say, "I understand.
I am the world's worst person," and then just, just move along.
And I fe- I felt a little bad for her because of that, but she also, she brought it on herself and she's letting it happen.
Right.
I mean, I, yeah.
And she's not, like there's no...
Uh, it, it should not be confusing to her that he is someone who would do that.
No. Yeah.
It's like I, I feel bad for her that her mind and personhood are in a state that could allow her to let this guy treat her like this, to, to not be able to see through him, basically.
Yeah.
To like believe that she will be the difference maker, and then that's immediately when I stop feeling bad for her.
Yeah.
Because then that is very exposing of her mindset, which is like, well sure, he t- treated Sierra like shit, he treated Miha like shit, but they don't deserve respect.
They don't deserve respect.
No.
And I do.
And I am superior in some way that will make this person whose behavior is bad change his behavior, because I deserve it.
And I do really think she has that mindset, because that's something I wish they'd asked her about-
Yes
... more, is like why do you think...
They, they asked her once and she just kind of scoots away from it.
Like, why do you think that this will be different when... 'Cause I understand the people who are like, "Sierra and West, like they were, they weren't exclusive.
Whoever is with him," like, or that, you know, they only dated for several months.
Like they, it wasn't that serious of a relationship.
But if I have watched my friend cry-
Yeah
... over the way that a guy has treated her, that is a different situation than like we're in the same friend group and we're kind of flirting.
You know, I kind of flirt with this guy, but it didn't work out, and later like maybe you realize you have attraction for him, you talk to him.
It's like it's just, it's not that.
That's not the situation.
It's so much more serious than that.
Yeah.
No.
It, it's why do you think that, why does it not matter to you that-
He doesn't respect me
...
he disrespected this person?
And he...
Okay.
Sorry.
Like why do you think that she deserves that on some level? Like why do you think that it's appropriate because that's what you believe that she's owed, and you believe that you are owed something different and better?
And she's the one who's been telling you for years that you are owed something better than what you're being given.
Not something better than what other women receive, but something better than what-
Yeah
... you as a person with autonomy are receiving.
And what does Sierra says to them that she's like y- you see how much he resents me, right? Like I couldn't totally tell if it's what Sierra meant or like her words got a little turned around.
It's like I don't, I don't think that- ...
West is, has pursued Amanda or developed this thing to spite Sierra, I believe that he has a great deal of spite for Sierra-
For Sierra, yeah
... and that he doesn't care what harm he brings her way-
Yeah
... including this harm.
Yeah.
And that is very evident when Jesse, who has been, who has had a slow stream of hot tears rolling down his face for this entire reunion.
[laughs] Jesse was on hot ones the entire time.
[laughs]
I mean, Jesse had pepper in his nose and fire in his ears, and he was having such a hard time.
The camera would be over, like, over in this direction for 15 minutes and then go back to Jesse.
[laughs]
He was still crying.
Jesse on the quarterback bench.
[laughs]
They took a break.
They went off screen.
He comes back on still crying.
And like, I...
He- and he explains...
Did you watch it on Peacock, or did you watch it on cable?
I watched it on Peacock.
Okay.
'Cause on Peacock-
But I watched the, like, uncut.
Yeah.
So in the uncut version, they give the detail that recently Jesse found out that one of his best friends had been hooking up with his ex and lying about it.
Yeah.
And in the, I believe that in the Bravo version they don't-
[laughs] Which is really bad and serious.
It just makes me, it just... [laughs]
It's like there's a whole different world out there.
I, I can't take him seriously because of the songs.
It's really important to not think about the songs when you wanna take his emotions seriously.
[laughs]
Yeah, but unfortunately I am.
I know.
It's really-
I'm thinking about the songs right now
... those, much like Timothy Chalamet, I'm like, I can't watch those on-
Yeah
...
I cannot watch those with sound.
Yep, yep.
Um, or I will be harmed.
Yep.
[laughs] I guess I'll try-
No, no, don't do it.
Don't do it.
Don't do it
... being me.
[laughs]
Don't do it.
Don't do it.
I did watch him playing his piano recently.
Oh, God.
He is crying hot tears.
He's like, he's kinda like, "I don't know, man.
Like, I hope that you can fix this, but I do- it feels like after 10 hours of listening to you be so fucking weird, you can't." This, this sort of finally seems to move West in some way, except it is the point at which Andy says, "No offense-
[laughs]
... are you on, like, a ton of beta blockers?"
"No, hold on, hold on.
Um, no offense, but are you on, like, a ton of beta blockers?"
"You on, like, a ton of beta blockers?" [laughs] And then, and then, and then West does say, he says, "Yeah, I'm on beta bl- I'm on a beta blocker." [laughs]
[laughs] One, one beta is blocked.
They gave me one for the betas.
And but while, while West is trying to, like, deal with the beta blocker accusation, he keeps turning back to Jesse 'cause he really is worried about him.
Yeah.
He's not-
Well, and also Jesse's acting a bit strange, if I'm being honest.
Yeah, it seems like someone needs to, like...
I mean-
The betas are actually unblocked for Jesse
... uh, the ducts are open.
And Sierra, who is famously a nurse/model, one of my favorite occupations.
[laughs] A nurse/model.
She, like, tweeted or did, like, a threads about what beta blockers, uh, actually do, and she said, "Just a medical note, beta blockers don't remove emotion.
They work by blocking adrenaline from binding to beta receptors in your heart, blood vessels, and muscles." I mean, basically they turn off your, or they lessen your fight or flight response-
Yeah
... your physical response-
Yeah
... to anxiety, but not your emotional response.
All of that to say, like, it is so clear how West does not care about Sierra and probably has not in years.
Yeah.
And it is also, like, very too bad for her and harmful to her that it took her this long to see it.
Yeah.
And I think, you know, some people like Kyle and Win- Lindsay are worried about the ways in which Amanda will not see it for years maybe either.
Um, and I guess we'll just see.
I mean, the tag team line between Kyle and Lindsay where they say, "How many situationships do you need to get to the center of the lollipop?"
[laughs] Oh, gosh.
It, yeah, no, it is, like...
It's, I mean, and here's, here's maybe this is, we can end on this, but it is a question that I, I have for you is, like, what do you think will happen with Amanda and West? Because what struck me was they both come across as people who don't have much of a natural sparkle and attach themselves to people who do.
And I do think that that is a personality type that, and I'm generalizing, but that eventually tends to turn on you because they don't, on some level they don't like it.
They don't like that, that by comparison they don't seem bright and shiny.
And then it builds, and it builds, and it builds, and then that person tries to, they try to get one over on the shiny person.
They try to take something.
They try to take something that they can.
If you're asking if I think that Amanda is a toxic Enneagram type two, yeah, I do.
[laughs]
I do think that.
What's West?
Um, so what's interesting is, like, y- I do think that West is a more sparkly person with, like, a pers- You haven't seen it.
It's been different.
No.
Like-
No.
Yes.
He, like, everyone loved him on the show.
Like, he, everyone really liked him as a friend.
Um-
They were incorrect.
[laughs]
They were.
And that is what they are finding out under the hot lights of Bravo is, like, we have misassessed this situation.
We have been fooled.
But I do, I, I do believe from what, exactly what you're describing, like, that is why Amanda, it's why she attached to Kyle, then deattached finally, and then sucked right back onto West, who as many people pointed out is just worse Kyle.
And-
But, like, it- Look, I think that Kyle is getting away with something borderline criminal, but, like, I, I get what you're talking about that he has a charisma to him.
He has a brightness.
I obviously am out of my depth here.
I just like, I can't see it with West.
It seems as though he has manipulated people into somehow, like, being confused and thinking it's there for a time, and maybe Amanda counts among those people too.
That man is not charismatic.
That is a wet noodle.
I g- I can't des-
That is a wet noodle with-
I don't want to have to describe that, like, he has been charming on the show and that people have liked him, and that that is, that, like, it's how he got where he got.
When, when Kyle says, "This is awful, man.
Like, I really thought of you as someone who, like, changed the show.
You were so great for the show." And he was like, "'Cause we were such good friends." But that's not what he meant.
He meant that he was great for the show.
When, when West and Jesse came on, it did change the structure of the show.
W- there had not been a single successful male casting since Kyle and Carl.
Okay.
Like, no one had stuck.
And when these two guys came on, it was like, "Oh, that's interesting." And then something that was charming about West, and this is where I think, like, you can be deceived by swinging too far in the opposite direction, is it was like there was this sense of like, oh, Jesse came in thinking that he would be the star because he's tall and he's got a big, handsome face.
But, like, because West had a, a, a kind of a more sparkly personality, he...
Like, Sierra liked West, and that was this, like, coronating event.
And then-
Are we sure that Sierra didn't just make West look cooler than he is?
She definitely did.
Okay.
But she was attracted to something in him.
You know, the, unfortunately, like, this is, when people are like...
I do, I do always find it, when people say, like, "I love a sense of humor," like, "I'm so attracted to a sense of humor," it's like, yeah.
Yeah.
Totally, me too.
But a sense of humor is...
Well, first of all, when men say it, they are attracted to when women laugh at their jokes.
At their jokes, yeah.
Which is a sense of humor.
Uh, when women say it, comedy is very subjective.
Yeah.
And so, like, I, I remember when Sierra said that she just loves a funny man, and she was saying it about Austin Crow on Southern Charm, and that man is not funny.
He's just not funny.
Sometimes I think it's a stand-in for, like, big personality.
Well, and you know what it is.
Goof-
Like, it's like I love how annoying he is, is kind of [laughs]
It's like, it's goofiness.
Yeah.
Is that goofiness can be mistaken-
Yeah
... for being funny.
Yeah.
And we found ourself a real goof here.
Yeah.
Um, so I don't, I don't...
What I think will happen with them is I think they have, I don't think they're just dating to, like, spite all these rumors.
I think they, I think-
Really? Do you think...
Like, do you think that he... 'Cause there's, there seems to be panic in his eyes about, like, "Now I kind of have to see this through," and-
Yeah.
I think he would like to head for the hills.
I think that the feelings he had for her were real, and so he's kind of, like, seeking them again a little bit because he has to.
And, like, he, he cannot have another situationship.
Um, and I think they will do real, real damage to each other.
But they're off the streets.
They're off the streets.
[laughs]
They can't get to us.
Nobody's spitting gum in my mouth.
[laughs] Amen to that.
And I rest assured to that, and I will just end on what was ultimately visually something I'd never seen before, which was a bunch of people sadly eating Thin Mints.
That is how they ended the program.
[laughs] Right? And then, and then Amanda, who's, like, been border- I mean, borderline silent is like, "Stop, we're gonna cheers them." Like, don't...
[laughs]
Oh, yeah.
No, that's a, a real, like, real fans of the show are really latching onto that, 'cause it's very, like, how she kind of treated Kyle for years, who again deserved it.
But, like, th- the way that she's, like, basically said nothing and is like, "Don't eat it."
"Don't eat it.
We're gonna cheers."
"This is when we cheers." But meanwhile, everyone's eating it.
Yeah.
[laughs] That's-
Also, like, at a time like this, it's just, that's not for you to worry about
... that's what she can get her gumption up for.
[upbeat music] Nora, you have been saying to me this week [laughs] that you have a lot of products- [laughs]
[laughs]
... that you want the readers to know about.
Yeah.
So, um-
I have show and tell for Personal Obsessed.
Okay, needless to say, have you been personally obsessed with anything for the last month while you abandoned us?
Yes, totally.
I mean, I'm obsessed with many things, but, uh, this is a longstanding obsession and something that comes up in my DMs quite a bit.
So I wanted to take this opportunity to do a French pharmacy haul.
[gasps] How exciting.
Yeah.
Um, I'm gonna close my laptop because I think I need-
'Cause things are getting real
...
I need the space.
Yes, because we have show and tell.
And so if we have any new readers who weren't for the, here for the last haul, this is a situation where these are things you can only get in a French pharmacy.
Um, they are things-
Can you get them stateside?
... where you can get...
First of all, uh, there's actually close to no such thing.
Sure.
I think there might be one product in here that you can...
But you, you can still, like, there's the, um, there's the, the place that is always being hawked on TikTok, which is, like, liter- called The French Pharmacy, but it's a website.
Um, but it's a pain, and things are more expensive.
Mm-hmm.
So if you find yourself in France and you go into a pharmacy, this is what I would recommend stocking up on.
Um, so let's start.
We're gonna start with a few-
There's so much stuff in there
...
There's, there's quite a bit of stuff, and to be honest, there is one product that, uh, it's too large and I didn't check a bag, so I, I'm down one thing that I will explain.
Okay.
Um- These, for instance, I love Caudalie products, which you can buy in the States, or pretty easy to buy in the States, but they're a lot cheaper in France.
So these are things that I stock up on.
Um, one, this is the-
Do it by the mic
...
the Caudalie VinoPerfect [sniffs] Mousse Micro-Peeling Éclat, which means foam.
Uh, it is a, um...
It has mandelic acid, uh, alpha hydroxy acids, and grape water.
Uh, it is a really gentle exfoliant.
Mm.
And so what I use this for, it's a foam.
You do two pumps, you go on for 30 seconds, and you wash it off.
And if you wanna do a full face of makeup and you want your skin to be really well primed to receive product, this is really, really good.
Mm.
Um, I use it sparingly.
Like, they say that you can use this every day because it's a- such a gentle exfoliant.
I don't do that, but I, I think it's a really good way to start.
Um-
The French love a gentle exfoliant.
Yes.
They have perfected it.
Yes.
Okay.
Uh, also from the Vino- the Caudalie VinoPerfect line is the brightening dark spot serum, and this is something where, like, I, I'm...
I don't know what the sticker price is in the US, but it's so much cheaper in France.
Um, so if you have an opportunity or if you have a friend who's going, stock the F up.
Do you know how much yours was?
I think mine was maybe 40 euros, and it's, like, 80 in the States.
It's $82 at Sephora.
Yeah, and this is...
And that might not even...
This is the big one.
This is, um, this is 1.6 fluid ounces.
So ultimately you will have to link a flight to France in your Shop My-
That's fine
...
in order to officially recommend these.
That's fine.
[laughs] Um, and then last one, um, same line from Caudalie.
This is the VinoClean Makeup Removing Cleansing Oil.
It smells like almond extract-
Mm
...
in the best way, and it just, like, melts all your makeup off.
This is the little travel size.
Um, I have a lot of these at home.
Okay, last Caudalie product.
Uh, we actually, we did a what's in my bag for YouTube, and I had this-
Love
...
in my bag.
This is the Fluide Très Haute Protection, uh, very high protection lightweight cream.
This is a sunscreen.
It's SPF 50 plus, plus, plus.
Uh, it's so light.
Like, it's just such a fluid.
It feels so moisturizing.
It never pills.
Um, I quite like it.
I love.
A French sunscreen.
Okay.
And now we've reached the portion, uh, where this is actually not just show and tell-
[gasps]
...
but these are gifts.
I have some presents for you, Jodie.
Ah! I'm gonna cry.
Let's start, let's start with the sure thing.
Let's start surefire.
Um, because one of these things I did take a little bit of a risk on.
Uh, the surefire thing is this is the-
[gasps]
...
Nuxe Rêve de Miel, uh, honey lip balm.
I know that you are a tiny Vaseline girly, but this is an amazing lip balm, and it is for you.
Thank you so much.
I'm gonna put it on right now.
It's really...
And smell it.
It's so beautiful.
I am a tiny Vaseline girly, but I use...
At home, I use other products.
Oh my God, it's also, like, a beautiful golden color.
Yes.
It does look like honey.
Mm.
Yeah.
Mm.
It tastes like something that I feel like my mom used to have when I was a kid.
Yes.
Like a, like a lip balm-
Yes
... my mom had when I was a kid that, like, I would steal off of her nightstand.
Yes.
That's a lot...
I- that I feel is a lot of European beauty products-
Yeah
... sort of feel like the thing that your mom used to know about.
Mm-hmm.
It's like r- spray on rose water.
Yeah.
There's a lot of rose water going around.
Like, things like classics.
There's actually a-
Thank you, Nora
... unique one of those that is, um, rose scented, but I think the honey is the best.
[nails tapping] Yeah, you clack those nails.
They're so short.
[laughs]
Uh, okay, and this is where I say that I was taking a little bit of a risk, because under normal circumstances, I'm not buying a lot of exfoliating products for my friends.
[laughs]
I'm not buying a lot of retinol replacements for my friends, because that's just-
But you know I'm trying to be shinier
... it's a little bit of dangerous territory.
But yes, I've heard you speak of wanting to experiment a little bit in the space, and this is the A313, um, gel.
And people swear by this.
Some people say they find it stronger than, like, a Tret.
Mm-hmm.
So you're gonna...
If you, if you wanna try it, I would start sparingly.
But other people say that it doesn't bother their skin as much and that it's just like...
This is, this is allegedly what a lot of French women use instead of, like, a tretinoin.
Thank you so much.
[laughs]
You're so welcome.
So I have...
I do know about this one, and my sense is that it is a lot like the, uh, La Roche-Posay Tret replacement, or like non-prescription retinoid.
Which you, which you've been using and liking, right?
Which I have been using and liking, and so I would like to compare this one, because if it is, like, more powerful than that one, but sort of in between, I would like to know about.
Have you used this?
I have used it a couple times as, like, a spot treatment, and I've never really, like-
Mm
... gone full bore, incorporated it into my routine.
But I pr- I got a couple for myself as well, and I was thinking about doing it.
So maybe we can be on the journey together.
And we can check in.
I also once got it not from France, and I do think it was not real.
Yes, I did...
That's another-
There are like-
So I'm very excited to try it for real.
[laughs]
See if it's the... [laughs]
It was ki- it, the, the one that I got was kind of like putting Vaseline on my face, and I don't think it's like-
I did not experience-
No, it's not supposed to be like that
...
I didn't experience any exfoliating-
It's not supposed to be like that
... situations.
So the one that I didn't, that I couldn't bring because it's in too large of a bottle, um, is, it's called Elusée.
It's a hyaluronic acid cream.
Um-
Ooh
... and Often what the, what the routine is is to use those two products together.
But I think your skin flooding is that, that'll be the replacement for the Éluçée-
Yeah
... um, because it's just super hydrating.
Uh-
As previously mentioned, I'm basically putting half and half on my face in terms of milky toners.
That actually is what, what the Éluçée cream feels like.
But once I finally run out of my original skin flooding toners, I might like to get that one in the mix.
Yeah.
I have a couple...
If, if you're in New York, I have a couple, I just couldn't put them in my, um-
I'm gonna come shopping at your house
...
I couldn't put them in my carry-on because it is...
Like, both that and the, um, both of those products are, they don't have them out in the store.
You have to go to the counter.
And I'm...
Like, my French is okay to do that, but not to be like, "Do you have a s- do you have a travel size one?"
[laughs]
I just have to sort of take what they give me.
Yeah, yeah.
You just-
Yeah
... you take what they give you, and then I'll come with a little travel size bottle and maybe you can just kind of loan me some.
Oh, yeah.
We can...
No, it comes in-
You can just give me some, like a-
... a very large bottle.
Wow.
That's great for skin flooding.
It's great for skin flooding.
Although, because it is, um, I think there's a really...
It's supposedly, like it has the smallest molecule of hyaluronic acid-
Mm-hmm
...
so that it can penetrate the deepest or it can, like bring more moisture in.
But because it is-
Women's stem
...
so potent, um, uh, it does make me feel like I need to be very careful about there being enough moisture in the air and on my skin so that it doesn't actually do the opposite and suck moisture out of my skin.
'Cause of molecules?
'Cause of, 'cause of molecules.
'Cause of molecules.
[laughs]
Yes, 'cause of molecules.
Nora, thank you so much.
I can't believe I got gifts.
You're so welcome, Jodie.
It's like when your mom comes back from a work trip.
I was so excited.
[laughs] I love it.
This feels so good on my lips.
I literally did.
I walked into the French pharmacy and I said, "Daddy's home." [laughs] I did get you guys some things in Mexico City that I still haven't given you.
[laughs] One day when I come over-
One day
... to steal your products.
Okay, this is kind of like a monu- I mean, it is, it's our first Friday show of the rest of our lives, so I feel like we both went kind of monumental.
Yeah.
I went to the beach recently, and I was like-
Let's go to the beach.
Beach, let's get away
... let's do it.
I was like, I want my face to look better when I'm on the beach.
I just, I have very light lashes and pretty, like-
You have very long lashes though
...
I, I have long lashes, so, like when I wear mascara, I like the experience of experiencing my eyelashes like that.
And so I used to often get a, a lash lift intent if I were kinda go on like a tropical vacation or something.
And I do still love that, but frankly, my executive function has been at an all-time low, and I have not been making any appointments.
And s- it's kinda like I'll think about like two days before, like, maybe I should do that, and it's like-
You've been crossing a lot of state lines.
I've been just moving around a lot.
Someone last night, Harry, the same person who said we need to start using the word goofy more, was sa- was, was, um, trying to identify kind of like where I am most at home right now, and he said, "Where are your skincare products?"
I, which is a really good way of-
He was insightful.
Yeah.
Um, and Harry, they're all-
You immediately said, "Thank you for asking that."
I said, "Thank you so much for asking.
They're all in travel bottles," and you can't imagine how hard it is to skin flood on the go, which this helps with.
So I was like, I, I want a brown mascara that is very light, like looks natural and is waterproof.
And this-
Really waterproof
...
I found the summer sandal of these mascaras, I think, because like I did it all.
And I know I've recommended the e.l.f Big Mood Brown Mascara before, which I really stand by as like a, a, a luscious, um, but like not clumpy, sort of more natural brown mascara.
I am on the hunt for an even mo- like a lighter brown mascara, if anyone knows anything like that.
This is a, a pretty dark brown mascara.
I have no idea how I found it.
I did get it on Amazon.
I think, yeah, it's a Korean product.
Um, the color is 02 Moose Brown.
It's called Clio, C-L-I-O, Kill Lash.
Um, and I believe-
Mine
... and it's called Superproof Mascara.
I kinda w- had to go out on a limb that this was waterproof because there was not a lot in the description that said it was definitely waterproof.
Right.
It's like what other kind of proof would it be?
But you know, it's like how sometimes on the back of the Korean products, like it says...
Oh, actually, gosh, I wish I...
Okay.
I, one that's coming up had the funniest instructions.
Um, it is waterproof.
I wore it in water.
I s- I sweated a lot in it.
It has this very-
Ooh, skinny little brush
... very skinny little brush, which I have literally never fucked with before because I love wearing a ton of mascara.
But because I was going for a my lashes but better look, I wanted it basically to look like I was barefaced.
I tried this skinny little...
And you can hear it going on your lashes.
It's like it, it's that fi- it's that tight to the lash.
You know, like if you rub your fingernails down a piece of hair, you can hear it.
Mm-hmm.
I can hear it when it's going on my lashes, and you can only apply one coat really because it's so s- the brush is so tight and thin that if you already got it on there, it kinda won't go on again.
So it's like a one swipe.
It, if you have light lashes, it darkens them.
If you want them, if you have dark lashes but want them to be a little longer, it'll elongate them a little bit, and it's waterproof.
Wow.
So you can, you know, I don't know.
I wouldn't go like scuba diving in it, but if you're like casual...
Oh, you're wearing goggles.
Sort of.
If you're just casually wanting to be in some water and have a your lash but better, this wa- I was so happy with this.
The concept of a scuba diving mascara.
[laughs]
Listen, it's so hard to be a woman
womanIt is so hard.
Um-
This is a great summer product.
Love this Clio Kill Lash.
Okay, the other thing that was really revolutionizing my life, it- I've already used a lot of it.
This is the cream-
Oh, I've seen you.
You saw me use it.
I've seen you spritz.
I spritzed before, uh, at post-pod, but pre what's in our bag, which I was probably kind of wet, and that's why I was acting so weird.
[laughs]
I thought you were great.
Thanks.
So the...
I, again, I don't know how I found this.
I had a really good personal haul where I was, like, in a fugue state Googling stuff-
[laughs]
... and then just, like, found some stuff I really liked.
This is the d'Alba Piedmont First Spray Serum.
Um, double layer serum enriched with white truffle from Italy.
[laughs]
I do recall-
Stop it.
[laughs]
It's...
Yeah, it's the d'Alba White-
You are not putting truffle oil on your face.
Do you see that coat of oil on the top?
[laughs] Yeah.
You gotta shake it.
You gotta shake the oil in.
I am.
That did not emulsify.
It did.
No, it's layered.
Well, that's foamed.
I shook it too hard.
Oh.
But-
Can I smell this?
Yes.
Spray it on your face.
I'm gonna spray it on my face.
I'll show you.
I'm not gonna spray it on my face.
Okay.
But I am gonna smell it.
So here's the thing.
This, once again, is like a...
It's what's happening, it's not what's written in the, in the description.
It can be used as a primer, like a, basically like a hydrating primer.
This actually smells good.
It doesn't smell like truffles.
No, it does not smell like truffles.
Um-
Why does, why does it say allure from basic? It's vegan.
Look at that.
Well, yeah, it's mushrooms.
I don't.
So then I had to do my own research, and what I found was this truffle spray.
[laughs] And it actually...
It's not precisely a setting spray.
It's basically if you've done your makeup and you feel like it really looks like you're wearing makeup or like it's looking cakey, you can spray this on-
It, like, brings-
... over your makeup, and it kind of, like, rehydrates your face.
And it bring...
It's like, you know the, um, the Patrick Ta blush method where you actually do the powder first-
Yes
... and then you do the cream blush on top because that's how you actually get a skin-like finish? It kind of does that.
Yes.
It, um, restores skin to your skin because you've put on fake skin-
Makes your skin look like skin
... and you want your skin to be real again.
Yeah.
Or it...
So, like, the way I was using it at the beach was just, like, after I'd put on, you know, my sunscreen, maybe my Lumi lotion-
Yes
... um, I would spray it on.
It's just incredibly hydrating, and it...
I think that it k- it kind of is a toner, but because it's a spray, everything's a toner.
[laughs] I think one of your rules is that everything can be a toner.
If it's not a moisturizer, it's a toner.
It's a toner.
Am I wrong? It's a serum, but because it sprays, you can just put it on so easily.
Yeah.
There's n-
And I think if it sprays, it's a toner.
If it sprays, it's a toner.
I can spray it right now.
[spray hissing]
That's a nice mist.
Do you smell it? It smells really good.
I'm gonna spray it at you.
No, it does smell good, and it...
Is this good podcast content? Anyways...
Do you think one day they'll be able to make podcasts with smell?
A girl can dream.
A girl can dream.
A girl with a very wet face can dream, but I've just really enjoyed this.
I find it very hydrating.
I think-
I mean, you've made your way through the bottle.
This is a travel size.
Mm-hmm.
So I was like, I'm gonna try it first.
I...
It was a, I, I believe a pretty good, a pretty good price point, but I was also traveling with it, and yeah, I think I've probably been overusing it 'cause I just really like it.
But it's probably fine.
It feels so nice.
Yeah.
It's like that expensive water you recommended that time.
Yes.
Yeah.
It's like, it just feels good.
It's really nice to spray your face with water sometimes.
But I, I do, I do feel like this is, um, doing something.
So between, yeah, this really skinny mascara and this really hydrating spray, I feel like I looked pretty good at the beach.
That's great.
Um-
I bet you did.
Thanks.
And I'll leave the others for another time.
Okay.
We've had a big time.
Nora-
Um, thank you for joining me.
Thank you for my gifts.
You're so welcome.
Wow, what a day.
Thank you for accepting, thank you for accepting retinol from, from a friend.
That's, that's a dangerous game to play, but I just sort of felt like it was right.
I would honestly put anything on my face that you told me to.
That's not a good idea.
[laughs]
It's fine.
What's gonna happen, you know?
Let's try...
Yeah, I'm, I'm not a risk-taker, really.
That's...
And you know that I am and that I don't know how... [laughs] It's like, maybe I shouldn't.
I'm gonna try it.
I'm gonna report back.
I'm shocked I didn't put it on my face sitting right here in front of you.
That, you know what? That was gross.
[laughs]
Um, thank you so much.
Thank you to Sasha.
Thank you, Belle.
Thank you, CT in the studio.
Thank you, LA.
Thank you to the readers.
We'll see you back here next week, twice a week on We Wore What.
Bye.
