Ep 185 You Can Change Your Life at Any Time

I always assumed my kids would be like super athletes, um- Or at least love sports, just because my dad was a sports guy.

My dad always played basketball, and my dad, like, loved sports.

And then as a kid, I wasn't really that into it.

I was more into bugs, and, you know, I could play all the sports, and I did play them all.

But I wasn't great at them, mainly because I didn't care about them.

I liked playing them at the backyard at home.

But once it got so competitive and people-- I remember in Little League, people would come back, and they were throwing their helmets around the dugout all mad after I just cleaned up the dugout, 'cause that's where I was at, just sitting on the bench.

I just cleaned it up, and then they come back all mad 'cause they struck out.

I'm like, "Hey, it's not my fault that you can't hit the ball.

I strike out all the time, and I'm still cleaning up the dugout.

Take it easy.

It's not that big of a deal." It just is not fun to me, and I, I'd never been that competitive.

I remember even doing a job, I was bellhopping one time, and I liked it.

Me and this other bellhop would work together, and we would just kinda take turns.

A car would come in, and we, one would take it, and another car.

And then I worked with this one guy who was, like, so, like, Johnny on the Spot that he was, like, taking all the cars, and I go, "Well, I'm not...

That's not my thing.

I'm not out here trying to beat him to the punch.

I'll just find a different job." That's always been my mentality, and I don't know if that's the right one.

I'm not saying that's the way to live.

I'm just saying that's how I've always been.

Even with comedy, it's like I've won several competitions, but I win them just because I have written jokes that the audience finds to be the funniest of the night.

Uh, I don't go in like, "I'm about to get 'em.

I'm about..." I don't even know how you would do that in comedy.

I just go out, and I just tell my jokes.
