Scott KeithHostSo we're just going to let Jesus just put them on blast, which that's kind of fun anyway.
But the first thing to say about call no man father is that's why Scott named his book Being Dad and not Being Father because he's a biblical guy.
So we're going to start with, this is towards the end of Matthew's gospel.
I think one of the important things to remember in Matthew 23 is Jesus is at the point now of trying to get himself murdered.
Now he's really laying in the wood and is interested in actually... revealing what's really been in these guys' heart the whole time, which is to kill him, and he's going to go after him and give him kind of no choice.
So in Matthew 23, it says this, and then Jesus said to the crowds and to his disciples, so he is not just saying this to them, but he's saying this about them in front of them to other people, which they really don't like.
He says, But you are not to be called rabbi, for you have one teacher, and you are all brothers.
And call no man your father on earth, for you have one father who is in heaven.
