Parshas Noach: Surviving in an Ark versus Leading the Ship: The Importance of Reaching Out - Part B

The Zohar points out in this pasuk, it's from Yeshaya [Hebrew] Noach.

So pasuk says, "[Hebrew] because like the waters of Noach," in other words, the flood waters of Noach, [Hebrew] just as I have sworn [Hebrew] the same way that I swore never to bring the flood waters of Noach again on the earth, likewise, I have sworn not to be angry at you, the Jewish people, to destroy you totally.

The Zohar comments, [clears throat] "[Hebrew] Noach." The flood is being called after Noach.

Hmm.

Now just think about it for a minute.

It's nice to have something named after you.

You know, you're gonna go, uh, there's the Major Deegan Highway.

Nobody knows who Major Deegan was.

He's a guy in World War I, did something or other.

[laughs]

Yeah.

Verrazzano Bridge, George Washington Bridge, Lincoln Tunnel, Lincoln Continental.

Yeah, it's good to have something named after you.

But can you imagine, oh, the Chernoff Earthquake?

[laughs]

You know, the Wasserman Fire.

Can you imagine the-

Sure.

One of those.

I mean, who wants to have a disaster named after you?
