But when Obby Khan left, he spoke a lot about issues within the PC party, a party that he was loyal to for most of his life and his political career.

A few days before his teary-eyed resignation speech, Khan shared that the party had had a confidence vote on his leadership.

And despite surviving that vote, Obby Khan said it became abundantly clear that the divisions in the party couldn't be healed.

Khan claims that a small group of MLAs were trying to, quote, "subvert the democratic will of the caucus," end quote, "by still pushing for his replacement as leader." End quote.

Now, the remaining caucus members say they are still united, despite what's been said in the drama.

Khan disagrees, though, and as I mentioned, he's doing all of this out loud, even though he's been criticized for going public with caucus infighting.
I don't think they're pulling the wool over anyone's eyes.
You can't preach unity when you stab your leader in the back.
You can't preach unity when you lack moral integrity.
You can't preach unity when you lie to the leader's face, um, and do something else when it comes to a vote.
Uh, you know, so I don't think they're fooling anyone.
Uh, it's a sad day for, I believe, progressive conservative politics in Manitoba.
Um, this is a reflection.
And I, and I was well aware of the fight.
Like, I, I don't want to look like, "Oh, Auby, these things were always coming.
You heard it." Uh, yes, I was aware of the fight ahead of me.
I was aware of, of the work we had to do as a party to rebuild the trust with Manitobans, uh, to message in a way that resonates with Manitobans, to move this province forward.
I was well aware of that.
I was well aware of the combats I was going to have with the media, um, and, um, you know, the government and the premier.
I was ready for that.
I, I, I, I, I cherished that opportunity to do that.
