Well, he was only in the role for just over a year, but Obby Khan's time as leader of the Manitoba Progressive Conservatives has already come to an end.

And he hasn't just resigned the position, he's also done with the party, and plans to sit as an independent MLA.

So, with Khan out, there is a new interim leader in place.

But when Obby Khan left, he spoke a lot about issues within the PC party, a party that he was loyal to for most of his life and his political career.

A few days before his teary-eyed resignation speech, Khan shared that the party had had a confidence vote on his leadership.

Mike Arcelaitis mentions that there is a publication ban on the details of the case and that the OPP says that there are several other OPP officers facing serious charges in court currently.

Next to Manitoba, where Obi Khan is out as the Conservative leader, and he's questioning the future of the party.

This is after he discovered a secret meeting of MLAs happened without him, despite him winning a confidence vote of the caucus on Friday.

Members voted on Friday, 13 in favour of his leadership and 6 against.

But a secret meeting was held at the home of Conrad Narth, that Khan was not invited to, nor were the members of the caucus who supported him.

Narth was chosen to be interim leader on Tuesday morning, just before the fall session was about to start.

Khan will now sit as an independent.

CTV News quotes Stephen Carter, a Conservative operative, who claimed that the caucus didn't support Khan and that he was often at odds with his colleagues.

The party has pegged Conrad North, who represents La Vand-- uh, La Vendrée in the province's southeast.

The party leadership became vacant after Obi Khan stepped down and quit caucus yesterday.

Manitoba is positioning itself to become an aerospace and defense hub, hoping to capture a share of a multi-billion dollar funding commitment from Ottawa.
