Episode 617: 10 Things Actors MUST Hear From TV Directors - Jody Margolin Hahn + Mary Lou Belli

So good.

So, so, so, so good.

I'm just like, I wish I could like have this on.

Well, I can because it's a podcast.

I was going to say I wish I could have it in my back pocket.

Like every time I go to self-tape or every time I get ready to do, you know, a network test or, you know, one of those big calls, like we have everybody on Zoom and, you know, we do a studio thing.

And so, because these are so important to actors.

These are, I just, I think they're so great.

I think they're so great.

But one of them stood out to me.

Both of them had a different take on it, but similar takes on it as well.

And it was about the notes.

And so instead of going through all 10 of the ones that I really love, I just want to zero in or zoom in on just one of them.

No note is just as good as getting a note.

I think somewhere along the line, we lost the plot.

We did.

We started believing more in what they want, you know, they want and stop trusting ourselves.

And they could be casting directors, directors, you know, anybody that's going to give us a job.

We started forgetting about our talent.

And let me tell you something.

Don't even think it's like, oh, this happened, you know, because of self-tape.

It started way before self-tapes.

Yeah, back when we were in the room.

If we went in and didn't get an adjustment or a chance to read it a second time, the ride home was hell.

Y'all know what I'm talking about.
