Why Does Theology Matter?

Maybe I should say something about why we call this Theology Refresh.

Absolutely.

Several times, the Apostle Paul talks about fellow Christians being refreshed in their soul-

Mm-hmm

... through one another.

And we, we might expect, like, refreshment coming from our Lord.

Yeah.

But it's surprising.

He, he keeps talking about this over and over.

So the first one I'm thinking on here, Romans 15, he says, "I pray that by God's will I may come to you," Romans, "with joy and be refreshed by your company." You know, not just be refreshed by your Lord, but because we are fellows in Jesus Christ, there's a kind of refreshment for the soul that comes in the react- in the interaction of fellow believers in Christ.

That on its own would be a great lead for Christians.

But then Paul, he keeps doing this.

So here's 1 Corinthians 16.

He says he rejoices at the coming of Stephanas, Fortunatus, and Achaicus.

I don't know who those guys are.

Just-

You're doing a good job saying their names.

[laughs] Some first, little first-century Greek names there, right?

Yeah.

Yeah.

[laughs]

Stephanas.

Did I say that one right? Stephanas, Fortunatus, Achaicus.

He says, "Because they have made up for your absence, for they refreshed my spirit-

Mm-hmm
