Mike McCarthy's first Steelers training camp is underway. This week on The Yinziders, Jenna Harner and Mike DeFabo discuss what they've learned about the new coach's approach, including his emphasis…

Mike, we've made it through a week and a half, I guess, if I'm doing math right in my head, of training camp up to this point.

Last episode, of course, we were diving into, hey, this is what we're going to potentially look to see during training camp.

We have a lot of practices under our belts, as do these Steelers under head coach Mike McCarthy.

And there's been a lot so far that I think we can take away from what we've seen out on the field.

I think something really interesting Interesting that I picked up on is Mike McCarthy really seems like he wants to get every single second out of every single minute of what their work they're putting out there on the field.

But I feel like we're seeing the pace of practice is quick and they're moving through a lot of drills really quickly.

And that's something that I think we're learning about Mike McCarthy a little bit.

There is such that emphasis on very specific game in-game situations that they're putting a lot of work on.
You look to like, how are things going to be different from Mike Tomlin to Mike McCarthy? You're just seeing subtle changes.
So one of the first days that they were out here, not only did they work two minute situations, but also even last second situations.
So they would say like ball on the 16 yard line with 12 seconds left or a ball on the 14 yard line, last play of the game, that kind of thing to work those end of game situations.
And Mike McCarthy said that he's gone back and he's looked at the analytics and more than half of the games of a 17 game season are going to come down to a two minute drill.
And from a quarterback perspective, he really likes it because he said, you're seeing different types of throws than you would.
You know, there's a value to that, you know, ball on the two-yard line that Mike Tomlin was really big into.
