Now is the time of year in this lead-up to training camp where we get these rankings lists and, and Mike Sando at The Athletic has been doing his quarterback tiers for a long time.
That is always my go-to for how executives, scouts, teams around the league view the hierarchy of quarterbacks in the league.
The one that came out today, Monday morning, is something that Jeremy Fowler does with each position group, where he basically surveys 70 executives, coaches, scouts, to rank the top 10 and then have an honorable mention at each position.
And John, where I wanted to kick off today's show is talk about his list of top 10 quarterbacks, because Jordan Love ranks number 13 on that list.
And before we dive into what we think of Jordan Love's ranking, let me quick, quickly give you the top 10.
One, Josh Allen, two, Patrick Mahomes, three, Matthew Stafford, four, Joe Burrow, five, Lamar Jackson, six, Dak Prescott, seven, Justin Herbert, eight, Drake May, nine, Jared Goff, 10, Caleb Williams.
Then the other two guys ahead of Jordan Love are Sam Darnold and Jayden Daniels.
Then the couple guys right below Jordan are Brock Purdy, Baker Mayfield, Trevor Lawrence, um, Jalen Hurts.
So, first reaction, too high or too low for Jordan Love at the 13th best quarterback in the league according to the people Jeremy Fowler surveyed for ESPN?
You know, a couple days back when ESPN started coming out with their lists and they had the running backs and then they had the defensive ends, and Micah Parsons was listed as number two on that list, I, I, I started saying what positions and what players I thought the Packers would have in their top 10 around the league.
These are NFL execs, scouts, general managers, maybe some coaches, 70 of them putting their input and grading system together that Jeremy Fowler kind of [mimics beeping] puts it all together and then, bam, there's your list.
I, I feel like he is definitely in the upper third, if not even a little bit higher, of quarterbacks in this league.
Maybe not the toppest of the top tiers, but nipping on the heels of a Josh Allen, of a Patrick Mahomes, uh, of a Joe Burrow.
Yeah, a- and I wanna try to avoid giving my opinion based on, you know, seeing too much Jordan Love.
I watch every throw he makes every game, and admittedly, I don't watch all the other quarterbacks as closely as I watch Jordan Love, but I watch other games.
I'm a, a avid fan of the NFL when the Packers aren't playing, so, uh, I think I have a, a decent picture of the quarterback landscape in the NFL, even if maybe my view is slightly skewed toward one just because I watch him.
And I also, as I've prefaced many times before on this show, wanna make it clear this is not a biased opinion.
