well this movie of shrek which uh i remember came out right right as we were graduating from high school so it came out in may of 2001 and we graduated right at that exact time and i think if i recall correctly i came to this movie well after you and a bunch of other people had seen it because i remember being extremely popular with people and i i saw it i think sometime late into the summer so i didn't get to it right away so what was your uh thoughts on shrek way back when it first hit the the scene in 2001.
that's a good question i was trying to rack my mind and i think it may have been one of the last films that i saw at the crossroads at pavilion in roseville uh which because i went to college and studied film thanks to nate's uh you know influence at Hofstra University in Long Island, New York, but apparently Crossroads closed in 2007.
And I might have been with my friend, Mike Byrne, and we might have been engaged in a little bit of illegal substance abuse that's now legal.
At the time in 01, we were all about, oh, computer graphics are looking cool and up and coming.
I remember being kind of transfixed with the green velvet like texture of Fiona's dress and like different other like textural things where at the time, I think that was like, you know, high caliber CG at the time.
But now looking back at it, it's a little different, but I remember being impressed with it.
Like, you know, we went to the theater expecting to have a nice, you know, experience and it was a nice experience.
tight 85 minute romp at the theater, I guess, you know, and the audience I remember was really loved it.
