The Sense and Senseless Podcast
Oct 11, 2026 · 1 hr 17 min · 10 segments
This episode pulls apart the habit of judging intelligence by clothes and polish, then moves to addiction, cheap kindness, and why comparison doesn’t make you better. From there: online anger, excuse…
So it's no shock that I'm not the best dressed guy in the room.
And I'm not going to pretend that I am ever.
I probably got the worst style imaginable.
In society, we use the way people look as a gauge of how smart people are.
At first glance, the best dressed people are more well-respected than someone that might look like me.
Now, however, I know the struggles of the average person and I can identify with most of the average people.
And why? Because I'm average person at best, you know? Right.
And yes, that well-dressed, well-spoken guy gives you the impression of what you were trained to look for when you were trained to give a first impression, right? You're using what you're trained to use to gauge intelligence, right? But have you ever thought as to why you use that as a gauge? Have you ever stopped to think that maybe you're brainwashed to think that way? Think about it.
When you see someone poor sitting on a corner warning you about something or preaching, you think they are crazy.
But if you see the same man but dressed to the nines and he's given the same information in a public forum, you will listen.
Same as a church.
The man on the corner is preaching from his heart.
But what you see is a crazy man.
But that well-dressed man on the altar that is shaking you down for an offering, he is what you put your soul into.
The clothes and the speech pattern doesn't build a leader.
It never did, and it never will.
And if you continue to use that as a gauge of who is intelligent, you will likely be led down a path that you won't enjoy.
I believe if you remove yourself from the flop for a bit and look at everything from the outside, you will see who is real and who is fake.
Now, I might not be educated, but I'm far from being stupid.
I'll bring you the truth as I find it.
Some of it may be wrong, but it is what I knew to be true when I spoke it to you.
But I have no problem admitting when I'm wrong.
I, like most of you, just winging my way through life and hoping that it all works out at the end.
I don't want to change your mind.
I'm just trying to share what I learned in a way that we can all understand.
