well I don't know if you saw but they gave up gave up 59 points that uh that was something new yeah look I I kid here but we we have to understand that September and and Billy I think uh you might agree with this you might not the way training camp is structured now I was up there watching you know Canalys's group doing what they could the to practice the fundamentals of the game as well as you can in terms of tackling, squaring up and taking the proper angles.

So not to say it's an excuse, but I was telling people all week and I was hoping that you and I had done a show that week because I think you and I could have some great Ben Johnson chats, but now we can't.

Ben Johnson's foundational bedrock is establishing a dominant run game, and there's elements within that.

But without that, Ben Johnson's passing prowess, which is much celebrated, is not much in terms of the bite there.

Boy, when they came in and they just started ripping off 12, 15, 40-yard runs in bulk, I had the Shane Gillis meme flashback.

I don't think that is a true indicator of what's going to happen with this defense over time.

I think it's a really good group in that front seven, and I think they've gotten a little bit better each week.

Although Atlanta was not great, they did so many good things against that Falcons team that it didn't really matter.

One thing that Dave Canales did tell us right after the game And I took note of this.

He came in, he said, you know, trying to stay positive, but he was even looking dejected.

There continued to be pressure all over the quarterback, and you could see, and you've done a great job chronicling what Brad Itzik has been able to do in his short time as the OC.

It looks and feels different, Billy, in the passing game, and I took that away from that Chicago game because Bryce was able to hang tough with an offense that was not going to be stopped that day, and it just was too little too late.

But, uh, that was the first impression I had of the season was, Oh God, you know, there's nothing more depressing than sitting in a press box.
