And the reason for that is that not only do I know the history of how diagramming sentences came to be, but I've done a lot of analysis and whatever of them.

And yes, I diagrammed sentences in school.

What it n- makes you do is think about relationships between words.

I don't care if the diagramming sy- system is right or wrong.

It makes you think about a sentence has components, and they relate to each other.

Graphic novels.

Graphic novels can be terrific.

Um, they can get you to be interested in a topic, to, to be get interested in reading, period.

Okay, so a grade, um, A minus, 'cause there's some graphic novels that are better than others.

[chuckles] I mean, I'd, I'd take the book Mouse that has a very profound theme, but it got people, adults, not just, not just kids, to start taking it, these things as, as things you wanted to know about that you might not have read a regular print book about.

Are you worried about the replacement possibility where students now maybe read far more graphic novels but then that might displace regular books?

Well, we all used to worry about comic books.

Uh, and some people said, "Oh, at least you're reading something." Um, we know comic books don't correlate with lots of educational attainment later.

Graphic novels, it depends on how well they're done.

If they're done beautifully, that's great.

I'd like to hope that that serves as a transition to adding in fuller text books.

But again, somebody needs to model that.

Someone needs to give a reason for it.
