The OHL welcomes its newest players and the Guelph Storm continue to try and build a champion

The biggest news, of course, is the draft that just finished in Kingston.

The live draft returns after a quarter century, but what are your takeaways from the OHL priority selection?

Well, there were a few.

I mean, first of all, let's start with the in-person piece, right? So we didn't know how that would go.

I heard nothing but good reviews.

And honestly, we weren't able to be there.

You and I have day jobs.

Unfortunately, we would have loved to be there.

But what I heard, you know, the Canada men's soccer team played in the afternoon on Friday before round one.

So there was kind of a festive atmosphere in downtown Kingston.

It kind of achieved a lot of the things that you wanted to.

Commissioner Brian Crawford did his State of the League address prior to the draft.

And then it was go time.

And by all accounts, it came off really well.

I think the families had a great time with the in-person experience.

But takeaways from the actual draft itself, there were a couple.

I think the big storyline, as many heard, was probably consensus number one pick Tanner Adams out of Hill Academy was, you know, some question, how long would he be in the league? Where would he report? That kind of thing.

So slated to fall from number one.

Yeah.

told apparently had told teams wanted to go to Sudbury be a little closer to home he's a Ontario native wanted to play up there so asked the top four teams not to draft him but Brampton Steelheads James Richmond jumped up and took him at number three thinking you know this is too good an opportunity to pass up and from all accounts Brampton's had some good conversations with with Tanner Adams and his family and and we'll see where this heads but it could be a scenario where Brampton trades him to Sudbury, gets the return as well as a compensatory pick in the next draft.

Or it could be they convince him to play.

And that would be my number one takeaway from this draft, Mike, is that If so, Brampton had quite the intriguing draft because their second round pick, Arjun Nanabai, probably a top five talent in the draft, slipped to them in the second round pick.

So if they were able to convince Tanner Adams to report Nanabai, they've got two blue chippers right off the cusp.

But if not, I'm sure James Richmond will find a workaround.

But that would probably be the number one takeaway.
