I believe it's some algae or something, right? In the Gulf? Nope.

Apparently, they just used to be referred to as crimson or crimson and white.

But then after a very muddy football game, some reporter said it was a crimson tide, which was a fairly common descriptor back in the day regarding life or blood, often in context of war and poetry.

So I think someone just did it and then the name stuck.

Crimson Tide, so.

Crimson is a dope color.

But do look up Red Tide, because that's nasty.

Red Tide, I think, is an actual thing in the Gulf.
