Clay ParrishGuestBriceHostUh, let's switch gears here just a little bit and let's run, uh, uh, a little bit, uh, farther in the direction of the Nat- National Pork Board.
Uh, s- maybe someone in the show pig world doesn't, uh, you know, just 100% understand, uh, what the National Pork Board does.
Um, so you guys got your initiative, the pork checkoff and, and things like that.
Give us a 30,000-foot view.
Uh, the mission of the, the, the Pork Board, uh, where does the show pig industry fit into it? And I know we-
... we probably touched on this, but I wanna get a, a little bit deeper into that.

No, um, a- and you know, I was somebody when I applied for this job, I, I understood probably a high-level view of what the, the checkoff did and what the National Pork Board was.

You know, every time you sell a pig, no matter the industry, if you sell a pig in this country, um, it is the law to pay your remittance on that pig.

So if you sell a show pig, a pig on showpig.com, you have a sale, there's a line item there, uh, that is your, your checkoff remittance, and that money goes to the National Pork Board.
Yeah.

So the way I think of it as a show pig person, hey, if you sell a pig on showpig.com for $1,000, $3.50 comes to the National Pork Board.
Yeah.

15 producers sit on the National Pork Board, and everything we do is directed, uh, by them.

Uh, if, many of you probably know, some of you might not, Jesse Heimer actually sits on that board as the treasurer.

Um, so it's huge to have a, a person who makes their living in the show pig industry sit on the National Pork Board.

I, I, I would have to go back at, uh, and, and look at boards, uh, from the past, but it's sure been a long time that, that, that representation has happened.
