In this episode, Coy joins us to talk addiction, recovery, and the deeply inconvenient reality that staying sober actually requires effort every single day. No inspirational mountain-top guru…
so happy that we're talking about this finally oh
i'm glad that you're at a place i think right now too is just really pivotal because there are so many people that are in the stage of their own recovery and healing where they're either kind of just getting those supports put in place so that they're able to address those things or they're, you know, midway through the journey, but not, you know, quite where you are.
And so I'm happy that, you know, you've decided to talk about this because I think this is going to help a lot of people.
So why don't we kind of go back to the beginning? Let's, let's go back to when this kind of, when this started.
Was it the Sambuca carpet fire?
The Sambuca carpet fire incident of 2005.
Which low point
shall we start with?
Um, okay.
Yeah, no, we, it was literally a great when all of us, well, my family, I guess we all got kicked out.
Well, I was removed after the, the exorcism and stuff like that.
Cody was already gone and it was like right when we were at the cusp, when We were waiting to hear back from John Olabokun.
I guess they were having like a pastor's meeting and shit to figure out if I was going to be getting sent to conversion therapy or not.
Yeah.
So yeah, they were waiting
to find out about whether or not they were, and then they were, they figured out they were going to send me to some church in Edmonton, I believe with, it was going to be under Greg Gallen.
I don't know if that was true or not.
That's what we were told at the time.
Yeah.
The same place they sent Aaron Benowise.
apparently
um so then that's when my mom finally like put her foot down and she had written i guess the keith johnson like a big 15 page letter shoved it under his windshield and she finally put her foot down got enough courage to finally pull the rest of them out and we never looked back
