California Floods: A Tragedy—or a Warning We Ignored? | The Karel Cast Long Beach suffers coastal destruction. Newport Beach’s Balboa Island floods. Las Vegas faces heavy rain it wasn’t built to…
Uh, mine was rainy.
Ugh, we had a tropical storm come through Las Vegas.
That's a pretty rare occurrence.
Uh, but it happened, uh, and dumped over two inches of rain.
Up until this point, we'd only gotten .9 inches of rain for the whole year, so double our rainfall, uh, in one day.
In fact, I have some photos here.
Let me see if I can, um, get them here for you, 'cause I got some photos here that you could see.
Uh, I don't know that it's gonna let me drag them in, but you know that I go to a park, uh, in the mornings, and that park is really just a, um, flood basin.
That, that's really what the park is.
Uh, it even says.
It- it's named, like, The Lakes Flood Basin or something like that.
I forget what.
Uh, but yesterday I saw the stupidest crap that I've ever seen there, and I've seen a lot of stupid crap there.
Uh, and I...
You know, when I saw it, I was like, "Are, are you kidding me?" First of all, here is the flood.
There it is.
Now, that bowl that you're looking at is normally empty.
Uh, it's normally completely empty, but as you see, it's filled with 14 feet of water.
Uh, 14 feet.
I- I'm not making this up.
And idiot parents...
Look at these parents here.
Look.
Do you see that they are letting their kids play in the water? I could zoom in even closer, but they're, they're letting their kids...
Here, let's zoom in.
