Who would have thought a Liberal prime minister would wanna privatize the operation of airports? Certainly not me.
But Mark Carney said, "I'm announcing today we will seek private investments through long-term concessions to operate Canada's four largest airports." The airports that are part of this plan are Pearson, Montreal's Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport, Calgary International Airport, and Vancouver's International Airport.
Carney said, "The government of Canada will retain ownership of the underlying land and assets, but we will unlock their true value by bringing in new capital and expertise to their operations and their growth." First to the microphones to criticize the plan were the unions.
