Welcome to the Ice Guys season finale edition for two thousand twenty-five/two thousand twenty-six season.

Ian Cameron, Alex B. Smith with you, and it is our season finale edition.

Why? Because the Carolina Hurricanes wrapped it up last night in game six of the Stanley Cup Final, shutting out the Vegas Golden Knights three-nothing and capturing their second Stanley Cup in franchise history, uh, and their first since two thousand six, exactly 20, uh, years ago.

Um, and the series ended pretty much the way game five went, and it was just a really a progression throughout the series of the Carolina Hurricanes getting better, getting stronger as the series went on.

Uh, and we saw it play out in game six once, uh, once again.

It was just a absolutely...

It was damn near letter perfect, the performance of the Carolina Hurricanes on the road once again last night.

It obviously helps when you're trying to clinch a Stanley Cup on the road to get an early goal, you know, take the home crowd out of it, give your bench a little life, life early, plant that seed of doubt in Vegas like, "Oh boy, we're facing elimination and we're down one-nothing early." And, uh, obviously Taylor Hall's goal did that.

I didn't love the goal that Car- for Carter, from a Carter Hart perspective.

You know, it was a pretty good shot by Taylor Hall, but it went under the arm.

Uh, that sometimes is a puck that normally I would like my goalie to have that one.

Uh, Carter Hart didn't, but it got, uh, it was a good shot by Hall to give them a one-nothing lead, and Carolina just surgical, clinical defensive hockey in how you shut a team down.

In fact, there was a period there when they had that one-nothing lead and it carried on for much of the second period until Jackson Blake scored to make it two-nothing with about, you know, five or six minutes left in the second period.

There was a span where Vegas had, I believe, 14 shots on goal by the early part of the second, five minutes in.

They didn't get another shot on goal the rest of the period after that.

It was just absolutely phenomenal team defense for the Carolina Hurricanes, really a hallmark of why they are champions, uh, here at the end of the season.

Uh, they played that way again.

Uh, the s- Hall-Stankoven-Blake line, once again, phenomenal for them.

Uh, obviously getting the two non-empty net goals for them, uh, in the first two periods.

And then in the third period, you know, it was another solid defensive effort from them.

Vegas did have their chances, though, on the power play.

I thought they were trying to be too fine.

I mean, there were times where they were passing it way too much.

You could tell the defense of Carolina, I think, was definitely in their heads a bit.

Brandon Bussey's performance was definitely in their heads.
