The Hook - Episode 12

Thank you.

Trigger, Rita, good to be here.

Yeah.

Thanks for having me.

Yeah, thanks for being here.

What's the song you're going to play for

us? So this is off that upcoming album coming out Friday, The Hill Country Sound.

And I wanted to, while there are some songs on there that I wrote that are fun and rocking, and I hope that when they come out, they can bring the house down a little bit, I wanted to play something that Probably the number one song on the record that I'm the most proud of as a songwriter.

The song is called Someday, and I'm a dad.

I was made to...

Well, my son is three, and I've got a little girl who's eight months old.

And as a dad, and when you're a songwriter at the same time, you kind of get that pressure to write your first dad song, you know? And...

So I was feeling that pressure and anytime I'd sit down and try to do it, it would just come out kind of corny or I didn't like how it was shaping up.

So I'd scrap it and put it off and wait a little bit longer.

And then I was actually listening to Adam Carroll and I was kind of playing along something melodically that sounded like it could be an Adam Carroll song.

And I ended up just started, basically the first verse kind of fell out and I could see where it was going and It's, like I said, it's my favorite song on the record, I think.

It's a different song every week, but this is my favorite song on the record as of right now.

It's called Someday.

Tie your shoes when you go for a walk.

Chew all your food before you try to talk.

Don't leave the house with the door unlocked.

Someday you're going to understand.

You're going to go blind if you stare at the sun.

Put the seat up when you go number one.

Say please and thank you to everyone.
