Mayor Paul Young on data centers, the Grizzlies future and his favorite place in the city

Give me the one thing that you feel best about right now in Memphis sports, and the one thing you feel worst about right now in Memphis sports.

Let's, let's start with worst about.

I feel the worst about Tiger basketball, easily.

Why?

Well, on top of, like, just the s- the immediate, which is, like-

This, this week, by the way, and, like, Kenpom ratings and things like that-

Yeah

... are out.

Yeah.

Where's Memphis supposed to finish?

Uh-

Pick second in the conference, right?

80, 85th at Kenpom.

Their average in all the big three metrics that I go by-

Uh-huh

... their average finish is 95, which is just-

Oh

...

it, it, preposterously low, right? Like, they just can't survive like that.

But so if you get out of the, just the immediate term-

Yeah

... which is that they, they will struggle probably, I think it's more so what they are, like existentially.

Right.

You know, are they still a t- a, a, a program that can make runs?

That's funny.
