How Discipleship Transformed a Brotherhood

It's interesting, even listening to y'all talk, I've never put this together, but And I think this is descriptive, not prescriptive, but, you know, I came to faith in Venezuela on a trip.

And so I know you've got a burden for this, too, but there is something significant that almost always happens.

If we, like, make disciples right at home is where it starts, absolutely.

But to cross-culturally go somewhere...

I don't know if it's the removing of the noise at home.

I don't know if, I mean, there's a lot of research that a new environment opens the door to new habits and new, but I mean, you're a missions pastor now.

I would assume you still see significant discipleship moments overseas that maybe aren't as present here at home.

Absolutely.

Not just with the trips that I lead, but with teams that go out with Downline or other trips here at Harvest.

We'll have, you know, 25 teams go out or so.

And so on trips that I lead, there are moments where, you know, God is speaking clearly to folks.

They have breakthroughs and all kinds of stuff.

And then I hear those stories.

So I think you're right.

I think part of it is the removal of the familiar and also exposure to something different and something new and something fresh culturally and spiritually engaging with other churches.

And then, you know, you're stretching your spiritual muscles.

You're being asked to do some things that maybe you're not always comfortable with, and you've got the time to do it.

So, yeah.

Mm-hmm.

We can do another podcast championing all the benefits of short-term

trips if you want.

Short-term podcast.

That's what everybody hopes this one is.

Yeah, well.

Today.
