The Cowboys avenge last Sunday's last-minute debacle with a game-winning drive in a 34-30 win over the Texans. Matt Mosley & Ed Werder have some thoughts.
Actually, I'll start, and Ed, you can go wherever you want to go, but I do want to say, while the end of the game was interesting to me, I will say this.
And I know they were only trying to preserve the opportunity to go win the game, but they sort of missed the opportunity to put any time pressure on the Cowboys by burning all those timeouts.
So you can say, well, they did leave themselves 40 seconds, but they left themselves 40 seconds and no timeouts.
Again, I don't know if it was egregious on the part of D'Amico Ryans, but I thought that was about as comfortable, and the Cowboys were extremely uncomfortable in a late-game situation in Rio.
Well, and we talked about early on how Schottenheimer sort of redeemed himself from a game management point of view with the strategy in the final 40 seconds of this game, unlike last week against the Ravens in the final seven seconds where they had a mistake across all three phases of the game.
But D'Amico Ryan's definitely outcoached him and won the strategy element before the half.
because he called all his timeouts and Schottenheimer, Dak gets sacked on third down.
Schottenheimer tries to kick a long field goal after Brandon Aubrey already had one blocked.
And so for as well as you could say Schottenheimer did at the end of the game, and you're questioning more Ryan than you're, crediting schottenheimer uh he was definitely had flaws at at the end of the second half and and i don't know i mean ryan's in both instances used his timeouts to the benefit of his team as far as his offense having an opportunity to score both times
