I felt when I was reading this, I remembered it being earlier, but.
Well, Marco always is charming.
He's chirping in throughout all the other books.

His mom is dead.
His dad is sad.
He's also poor.
You know all these things before you get to this one.
He is always charming.
I also feel like this first arc of five books can basically be called the radicalization arc.
Because each character, like each point of view character has a radicalization in their book, like a sort of a moment or a thing that they that they go through, even if they already seemed like they were in for it.

Because the entire time Marco has been the most reluctant and more if he's like, oh, OK, I guess we'll do this.
