Why do you think the U.S. is so scared of harm reduction? Like, why are we getting the pushback we are when we talk about it?

I think there's like a myriad of factors, right? We can go back all the way to like the funding issues, right, of like federal dollars not being able to be used for syringe programs, which has been lifted, and then it's kind of tried to be put back.

We think of marijuana and Mexican people specifically and how that was used and racism was used against.

Um, and the ways that like, we just have these like scary things associated with drugs that are often racially motivated, um, factors influencing it.

And so with harm reduction, it's like, oh, we're not telling people to just say no.

And we just don't have the tools, resources, the language, the education around like what harm reduction actually is and how it's helping people.

And what I've just found that giving somebody respect and honoring them if they're going to use drugs is, It helps them come out of it when they're ready.
