2026 has been a very um disconcerting year not just like culturally politically and socially but like I have never known uh either like been friends with or acquaintance with so many people who died right on top of one another um So Charlie Healy is gone.

Francisco Cordero, director of Luboff Gallery, who I had a really good relationship with, gone.

Sean Reagan, the owner of the late Material World record store and the founder of the band Cult of Youth.

Not necessarily a close friend of mine, but definitely a close friend of close friends of mine.

And then another person who I don't know at all, but have friends who do, Lucien Smith, died today.

I mean, fuck, even my mom's 22-year-old cat, Comet, is scheduled for euthanasia tomorrow because he's finally given out.

I don't know if this much death... means anything necessarily like it could just be that i'm getting older and the older you get you know is the more death you become acquainted with but it is awfully fucking strange and um you know like a friend of mine suggested that you know certainly in sean francisco and charlie's death drugs were a factor And he just suggested that drugs are getting more toxic and whatnot.

I'm sure that's true to an extent, but I don't really know what drugs they were each individually messing around with.

But it's hard not to see some sort of metaphysical or cosmological meaning to so much death being stacked right on top of one another.

I know people say death or things come in threes, but we've already, we've already outpaced that.

Um, I don't know, man, you know, and obviously a lot of celebrity deaths as well.
