S11E1: ΟΡΙΖΟΝΤΕΣ a chat with George Diamantopoulos

Wow.

For those listeners who are not familiar with the structure in Canada, when you reference the Hellenic...

I'm going to use the word caucus.

That's not what you said.

Congress.

Can you talk...

There we go.

I was like, it's not coming out the right way.

Tell us about that.

What is that?

The Hellenic Canadian Congress of BC is...

Basically, a program that was created back in 1987 in the start of basically fighting for politics, lobbying, doing stuff in the government and helping gain.

Like, for example, we have a program called Stalinika, which is partnered up.

We are the one thing with the Hellenic Canadian Congress and we have the Federation, Hellenic Canadian Federation of B.C., Both those are partnered with SFU and at SFU, they have the Hellenic chair.

And we sit on the Hellenic chair and we work together.

And we started a program called Stalinika with the Stavros Gnevros Foundation.

And it's an online Greek school per se.

And it's kids can go on and learn Greek at their own pace.

And it's like little video games.

It's actually really cool to see.

But that's a different conversation for...

I

could go hours of talking about Congress and the Federation.

But today, the dance group is... is the key part.

And without us having these dance groups, without us enjoying dance, we wouldn't be creating our friendships, relationships, and showcasing our culture throughout the world.
