Who's promising a hospital when it's really not the jurisdiction of the municipal government to do something like that." Uh, the Conservative Electors Association, um, which sort of began as a party that was going to run candidates everywhere, uh, fizzled out.

Uh, they lost their candidate for mayor in Richmond.

They're not running anybody in Kelowna or in Kamloops, even though there was polling done that suggested that they would.

Wow.

Now, there are other races in so many other communities around British Columbia.

But ones I've been keeping an eye on are Richmond and New Westminster.

Are you looking at those?

Some local mayors are not happy about that.

Malcolm Brodie is the mayor of Richmond, BC, and that's where we reached him.

Mayor Brodie, you have called this one of the more cynical moves that you've seen in your political career.

After 25 years as mayor, what should we take from that assessment?

What do you see as being the problem there for voters? Do you think they won't be able to distinguish?

I think it will simply be confusing.

We have over 50 people running for city council in Richmond.

There are six or seven candidates for the position of mayor.

And so he was calling me back to the wild when I was still living there, trying to convince me to come out on a hunt.

super cool um connection where you know you two were you know had that uh primal connection you were you're born in prince george and then like sort of the disconnect in two different paths like and it's interesting like the the world modern world we live in with this rural urban divide right like you know prince george is still pretty rural in many ways um but you know it's a city now of course but uh you look at the lower mainland and it it doesn't and like you said you could i had friends that grew up in richmond steveston you know uh 50 years ago and they talked about how you know how just how small small it was and it's just not that anymore so interesting that you guys had that sort of uh sort of familial connection really early on and then sort of two paths diverged and you would had a very similar upbringing had you stayed in the prince george area um ryan maybe talk a little bit about your path to sort of what brought you to today

Well, yeah.

Um, as you can gather, my, my path was fairly different from Joel's.

He says the appeals process and the Cowichan decision will take precedence.

Last month, the Supreme Court issued a ruling recognizing Cowichan Tribe's Aboriginal title over 732 acres of land in Richmond, British Columbia.

Now the decision is facing appeals.

I think we're going to have to wait until that Cowichan decision is appealed.

Yeah, seriously.

It's an interesting thing because he's a BC boy, Richmond, BC.

I just don't know how that.
