Well, I feel super successful in my work life, 'cause that's where I was trained, get the education, work hard, do what you need to do for your supervisors, get promoted.

But sometimes in other roles, like being a friend, I didn't really know what it was to be a friend because who had time for that? You're just trying to achieve and climb up that ladder.

We step into roles, and that's why it's necessary to get clear on, okay, what's the relationship that I'm in with this role? What are the responsibilities I have agreed to in this role and receive the alignment from the other person on the other side? And then what expectations have we discussed, examined, and gotten clear on so that when I'm in this role as a friend, I can show up without feeling guilty, without feeling like I'm letting my friend down, because I've established, hey, on Sundays you and I, this is when we spend time together.

I am a business owner, and I'm s- I have speaking engagements as well, and I value you as my friend, so on this day we- we're gonna have our time together.

Right? [laughs] So that, that is where you really get to- I've really gotten to learn how to pivot, adjust, and be super flexible like, um, Elastigirl [laughs] on The Incredibles.
