Today we're sitting down with Ray Delahanty to talk about his process and what gives him passion making videos as CityNerd! ## Links - CityNerd YouTube channel…
Parker SeamanHostYeah, we've been talking a lot about the visiting cities videos, but when I think about the classic city nerd experience, a lot of the ones that come up in my mind are essentially a listicle, but in video form with a lot of Google Earth screen recordings.
Yeah, talk about your approach for those and how that kind of became a format that you came back to again and again.
But increasingly, like I've got like I'm going to a city like once or twice or even three times a month.
Like I think increasingly I've done, I've done videos around like interesting research that I wanted to talk about and share with people and kind of present it in my own way.
Like I have to, I have to develop my own like indices or, um, evaluation criteria.
I loved to make lists of the top 10 or top 20, this or that, and kind of come up with my, like, like literally this is stuff I did when I was like eight or 10 years old.
And so the adult me is kind of still doing that, just putting it in video form.
So like doing all the analysis and then, then I have to figure out how to write it.
What kind of images do I want to show that help demonstrate? And so that's where Google Earth comes in, like aerials and Street View.
If I can find stock, publicly available footage that helps express what I'm talking about.
