Welcome back to *Rogues Gallery*! This week, we're gearing up for a deadly game night with *Ready or Not*. What began as a sharp high-concept pitch from writers Guy Busick and R. Christopher Murphy…
This is where we look at the factors that created our subject and how that informs their motive.
The two had been collaborating for years and wanted to create something contained, high concept, and producible on a modest budget.
Yeah, like, it's one of those where you're like, "Oh, this must be a remake of some '80s film." I'm like, "N- no, nobody's done this one? O- okay." [laughs]
They brainstormed around taking something light-hearted and innocent, like a childhood game, and turning it into something horrific.
I would have thought there would have been a few machinations of this before you land on-
... newlyweds, in-laws being such a core concept of this because, like, the whole idea of let's do an R-rated horror version of hide and seek-
But the fact that that aspect was also right there, that's just very surprising to hear.
I agree that I scoured this week trying to find, like, okay, but they've, they've done interviews, right? Where they talk about their ideas before that, and according to them, no.
