in 1st Peter chapter 3 of the hope within and we're going to pick it up in verse 12 for the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous and his ears are open unto their prayers but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil and who is he that will harm you if you be followers of that which is good but and if you suffer for righteousness sake happy are ye and be not afraid And here is Peter talking to the church, facing opposition, people who stood out, people who were in some regard being persecuted because they were children of God.

These were people who had been changed, they'd been born again, they were new creations like you and me here today.

He doesn't tell them to blend in, he doesn't tell them to become quieter, a version of a child of God.

He says, do not fear, do not be troubled, sanctify the Lord God in your hearts and be ready to give an answer of that hope that is within you.

And as we talk about the hope within, we are talking about hope in a biblical sense, not wishful thinking, not positive thinking, and not crossing your fingers hoping things will work out, but a biblical hope is a confidence and assurance, a settled confidence in who your God is and who you are in the sight of God.

You know, we are different because we have hope, and we have hope because we belong to God.
