by the way if you're not familiar with the concept of the second half of life i think you'll pretty much get it over the course of the episode but just in case let me just say a couple words about it here this is we're talking about um you know as our spirituality matures we're often faced with some kind of spiritual dilemma where we have to make a choice it's usually a difficult choice but And, you know, we have a container that we have been, we have grown up in.

It's kind of, let's call it our identity, right? And identity includes our faith or lack of faith, let's say.

And in this kind of moment, and there may be multiple moments in the course of a person's life, but we're often faced with the decision to either to do something.

The first option is to kind of batten down the hatches and say, okay, the thing that I've learned or the tradition I've grew up in or whatever that might be, the identity I've forged for myself, that's all there is.

The other extreme, the second option is would be to say, you know what? I don't believe in any of this stuff anymore.

And I've got to find something else that's going to help me to deal with what I'm dealing with.

This, this pot that, that I call yourself a plant, this pot that I find myself in is just not, not helping me anymore.

And then the third option is, is some, some kind of balance between those two that I think is maybe the healthiest option.

And what we, what we mean when we talk about second half of the life spirituality, where you don't.

If you're the plant, you're, you're still in the same pot, but you're growing out of it.

Uh, and that's kind of the healthiest version of the spirituality that we, uh, that we hope that really that we hope this, this podcast has been all about, you know, living this integrated life.
