What to Do When You're Tired of Waiting on God | Geoffrey Graff

I knew I was supposed to like go teach the Word, right? But I didn't like find the church, so I was almost 31.

So it was a long time of waiting.

It was four steps to take when God's timing feels too slow.

And especially when you pastor, like you realize so many people feel like that.

They feel like they're waiting on God.

And often God is waiting on us to wait well.

And so I break it down kind of in four sections.

Watch.

So watch for the opportunities you have, even if they're not the ones you want.

Watch for greatness was a hard one for me, because sometimes you know what God's put on the inside of you.

You're like, man, this is going to be awesome.

But what you see in your prayer closet is not necessarily a bunch of sixth graders that you are going to preach to every single week who really just want to go eat pizza and play dodgeball.

In those moments, it was important for me to realize like, no, this is where God is growing you right now.

And the greatest thing you could do is not go preach at a conference or not go do this, that, or the other.

The greatest thing you could do right now is serve these kids.

He who is faithful with little we'll be trusted with much, right? That's good.

That and what's happening to you is while you're living out that act of service, God's depositing and building and laying this foundation.

And just by you walking into that purpose and in that identity, He's laying that, building that framework that you don't even know what the fruit's gonna be in years to come.

That's the craziest thing.

Yesterday we were doing something and I just looked at my wife.

I said, isn't it crazy? how similar what we're doing now with this church plant is to what we were doing all those years in youth ministry.

And God was preparing us the whole time.

To me, this mind-blowing moment of like, you thought the season you were in was so disconnected from what God was calling to you, but God is so good that He will take a seemingly useless season.

And if your eyes are open, He will teach you lessons in that way that you step into the next season that you wanted to be in and you realize, whoa, I needed that.
